Suddenly the tone is a lot friendlier around here towards Walker. What did I miss?

They should bring in a young guy in his absence. Someone passionate about the city and the home team, and wants to discuss these prospects and their growth. But most importantly someone who respects the fans and the listeners and treats them like a business would treat its clients. Something Walker most certainly didn't do a lot of leading up to his departure. Turned me off of the morning show completely.

Isn't that pretty much Pat Steinberg?

Pretty much. The station could really use another guy like Pat, though. Someone with perhaps some differing opinions on things, but approaches the job and the audience with the same demeanor.

I'll miss Walker on the morning show. I think he was the perfect foil to Rhett and Boomer. Listening to the best of "That's Stupid" this morning, there were definitely some gems there. I think the "black and white photos of naked guy with pregnant wife" was pretty funny and pretty accruate. Seems like it's the hip thing to do these days.

Any candidates who would keep the sarcastic player profile series going?

If there were two guys like Pat, the circular monologues would never end.

I actually liked that he wasn't a homer and when the Flames stunk he wouldn't sugarcoat it kind of like Rogers who is gone for different reasons. I realize he was an Oilers and Riders fan but I honestly didn't see that as a big issue for him outside of feeling sorry for all the hardships he's had to endure cheering for those sorry franchises. My issue was based maybe on a generation difference in that I sensed the self entitlement and narcissism of his generation although it bring to the light of day skits like That's Stupid which was funny for maybe the first month then got tired.

Some of the calls these guys have to filed on the fan are downright stupid.....those fans deserve to be talked down to.

Its gonna be interesting to hear Boomer ( and the replacement) cover Baseball. Walkers passion for the Jays was obvious. Got my attention for the first time in years.
I hope the base ball coverage continues (with the exception of Baseball Central - I am not a fan of that show) and that that the morning show does not give MLB the same treatment as basketball...funny as that may be...

Baseball coverage is the worst I hope they do give it the nba cold shoulder but with no competition in the summer and the fact Rogers owns the Jays and sportsnet covers the games makes me think the coverage is here to stay.
While I do get a chuckle over their nba coverage I wish they would give it more talk. NBA talk is the only good thing about the Jim Rome show IMO

Is anyone actually tuning into the Fan at noon for the 590 baseball talk? Talk about dry and uninteresting. The noon hockey talk was one thing when the playoffs were on but they really need to keep Rome until 1:00 as this baseball talk is unlistenable.

I don't really listen to the fan anymore but on the few times I did I would switch to music if Rome is/was on. At least with Baseball Central I may not tune in for it specifically but I won't change station to avoid it like I would Rome.

Rogers owns all of the "FAN/Sportsnet" radios across the country and the Blue Jays. If you don't want to hear Baseball central, turn the dial all the way to the left/push the button. Simple. The NHL and its offseason isn't the only league that matters for people like me who like "other sports."

I like other sports as well which is why I enjoy the Rome show during hockey season as a break from the FAN's all day hockey talk. An hour of straight Blue Jays talk is a little too much IMO.

If there is anything more boring then baseball it's talking baseball on the radio. Horrible idea lol.
The basketball coverage is brutal. Need more basketball less baseball.

I prefer to watch baseball over basketball but I can't deny the NBA makes for better sports talk because of the over the top player personalities, controversies, etc. I believe a large part of the popularity of the NBA is driven from the soap opera story lines that it manufactures.
