There are a number of legitimate prospects for the 12th spot. Granlund, Reinhart, Agostino and the 2 defencemen, Breen and Cundari. I went with Granlund. He looks like the best offensive prospect after our top guys and we need some goal scorers.

Reinhart looked great in his call-up last year. IMO, he is the most likely NHLer of this next group.

But, if you don't agree with my view, it means you're either over-rating yur selection or under-rating mine...which is it??

There are still a ton of interesting prospects...

No real discussion yet of Berra, Ramo, Arnold, Ramage, Cundari, Breen, Brossoit, Culkin or Kulak - all of which have anywhere from a decent, to a very strong chance of being an NHL regular.

I really really like Max Reinhart. There are players that become third line guys because they fail on a top line, then there are guys like Reinhart who seem to be born into it.

Reinhart knows exactly what his role is, plays it to a tee and doesn't have delusions of being a top line player. His board work is incredible and he is exactly what you want as a 3rd line pivot.

Wow the wide gap has narrowed. Agostino supporters must have slept in.

Interesting that neither of your two defensemen are Ramage. He looked so close to Wotherspoon and Sieloff at that camp that I would have guessed he'd go within a few spots.

But then I'm guilty of leaving him on the pile too.

Reinhart for me has slipped. And I don't mean out of NHL caliber, but out of a guy that I saw as a scrappy two way 6/7th forward and into more of a 8-10 guy with limited offense.

I think it is more of a reflection on how poor the draft prospects were before the 2010 draft (Reinhart's draft class). Since then the Flames have drafted:

Monahan
Porrier
Klimchuck
Baertschi
Janakowski
Granlund
Wotherspoon
Sieloff
Gaudreau
Gilles

Other then Gaudreau and Gilles, all were drafted higher then the 65th pick in which Reinhart was taken. I was going to list some of the top prospects prior to Reinhart's draft but it just gets depressing and shows why he stood out.

Another split decision. Another run off poll? Where will the Reinhart supporters go?

For people who don't know much about Agostino and want to see more of his work, this video shows his upside well if you haven't seen it already:

To give you some background that is the first round of the NCAA playoffs, Agostino's Yale (18-12-3) were playing one of the tournament favorites in Minnesota (26-8-5). On the first goal, Agostino's read of dropping lower and finding the open room was terrific. The shot that he executed was even better. This was huge for them to get the first goal of the game. Clutch shot.

On the overtime winner watch the slow mo to see the play he makes. He pressures the D into making the turnover. It looks like he makes the Dman think he's going to hit him, but changes direction and takes the puck instead. He makes a quick move around the net and gets it out to his teammate who ends the game.

This guy plays hard every shift and makes things happen when he's on the ice. I see him being a terrific third line player for us.

I hope not, run off polls are lame. All they do is show how little your vote meant in the first place. If I cast the deciding vote to give someone the win by a single vote, my expectation is that it would mean something.

Run offs ruin the fun of it.

It's Billy Arnold time.

This guy is being overlooked! I like Agostino, but Arnold is a better prospect by a fair margin IMO.

We should all just sing coom-by-ya instead of providing an honest opinion on prospects?

I can't speak for other threads, but nobody trashed or said anything super negative about Granlund. He has just recently become a guy that is being widely talked about and it would be naive to think that that noise isn't influencing his position on a public internet pole.

I think guys like Agostino, Brossoit, Reinhart, Culkin, etc are all arguably better prospects but don't have the chatter right now. You could argue a player like Arnold has a similar offensive upside, is much better defensively, and has the ability to play a bottom 6 role. (For the record I actually have Granlund ahead of some of those guys).

Granlund has a good skill set and it is great to see him excelling at the WJC and in the Flames development camp. But he is a small player with limited defensive upside. He saw his production drop last season which is never a good sign for a developing prospect (granted his team got worse). He doesn't have the skill set to be a bottom 9 player so he is top 6 or bust. He will have a heck of a time transitioning his game to the NA ice (as his much more skilled brother is finding out).

I like him but the Flames still have better prospects on the list (which is a good thing btw).

My comment was aimed at those who accuse every winning/leading player as being overhyped or a flavor-of-the-day. Votes based on honest opinions is exactly what I think people are providing.

But yes, feel free to sing "coom-by-ya".

Granlund is a 2nd liner if he makes the NHL.

Hence why this is my 6th time voting GRANLUND. (again directed to all those apparently blind folks who did not notice this kid at development camp)

Max Reinhart was a top 3 prospect for this org 2 years ago and now he is going to rank 14-15 and i love that it is because our prospects are better and not that he is worse (unlike Nemisz who is failing to develop at the rate we all hoped for

Granlund's WJC performances and top 6 forward potential (due to that offence he's shown on the World stage) are what get's him my vote.
