Yeah, but that's not going to happen forever. La Liga is in some very serious trouble.

To expand on Gustavo/Arsenal: feeling in Munich is that he's off but earlier this evening, Rummenigge said LG hadn't decided yet...

But it's only a question of him agreeing personal terms - valuation not an issue.

He's one of the players for who I think we may actually move. He's going to be going at a discounted price and that price is in Wenger's comfort zone. However, I'm trying not to get excited until there is some solid and reliable evidence.

Christian Eriksen on Tottenham today

had been rumors on the weekend of Spurs making a bid to Ajax for both Eriksen and Alderweireld

In the "would have been exciting had it happened five years ago" ilk:

Yoann Gourcuff is ready to lower his sizeable salary to secure a move to Arsenal, according to the Lyon playmaker's club president Jean-Michel Aulas.

I guess I would take him and Gustavo rather than nothing (or Suarez/Rooney), but certainly not enough to make a push for the title.

Downing to West Ham is official

Some more 10 cents on the dollar pieces from Liverpool. I think this could be a good move for the club as he has the potential to fit into Sam's system nicely. Him and Jarvis are a pair of good quality wingers feeding AC crosses. Now a fit AC or a good backup would be nice. Ravel Morrison seems to be amping up for a good year also.

Considering that in seasons past you could substitute 'him' with Park/Santos/Chamakh, I'll pass. We've already spent too much time dealing with the deadwood, no need to bring on more.

Yeah, Yoann "The Next Zidane" Gourcuff is well past his best-before date.

As for moving Downing, it was pretty well inevitable.

I wonder if it is too late to make a move for Michu. They know he is eventually going to leave so I think it might be a matter of ensuring they aren't left with a gaping a hole.

£20m + Bentdner on loan (incl. full wages)? Maybe throw in a few extra million and one or more of Ryo/Gnabry/Sanogo on loan.

Why would Swansea agree to such a ridiculous offer? They'll make far more money by keeping him. Keep in mind that the prize money for making Europe is huge, even if it is just the Europa League. Making Europe will bring them 20+ million if they survive the knockout stages. Besides, Swansea have already bought Bony so they don't need another striker.

I think you are grossly overestimating the Europa League payouts. The 2012 winners, Atlético Madrid, pocketed €10.5m. If someone were to offer Swansea market value and the club believed they could come close to replacing the goals, the board would take the profit in a flash.

I'm not talking about just prize money. Gate receipts, additional advertising revenue, etc. Well over twenty million pounds for an extended run. They have nobody else to repace Michu. Hernandez plays more as a winger than in the middle and he's their only other true attacking player who is Premiership class, other than Bony.

Yup, gate receipts was something I thought about this morning. However, that money is dependent on if a deep run could be made. Accepting a large transfer fee is basically a guarantee. Don't worry though, I also remembered that we are talking about if Arsenal decided to meet another club's valuation of a prized asset...

Swansea would be wise not to move Michu unless they are getting young capable depth up front.
The cash is fine but Michu gives Swansea more than that on the field.

Messi, Beckham, Pelé Sign For An English Club You've Never Heard Of
http://deadspin.com/messi-beckham-pe...-ne-1136191431

In April, English soccer team Farnborough FC went into administration, and it was up in the air whether or not the Conference South side would be able to field a squad this season. But yesterday, it was announced that bookmaker Paddy Power had swooped in as Farnborough FC's main sponsor. They signed a kit deal with the club, and the stadium was renamed after the company. Paddy Power saved Farnborough from financial ruin, but of course there was a catch.

Farnborough's players each had to legally change their name to that of a soccer legend so that on paper, at least, Farnborough would be the greatest collection of players ever assembled.

Kevin Ainsley SCRIVEN – Gordon BANKS
Oliver George TREACHER – ROBERTO CARLOS
Joshua Adam HUGGINS – Lothar MATTHAÜS
Adam Hugh DOYLE – Paolo MALDINI
Alan Francis INNS – Alan HANSEN
Paul Jinnah MASSAQUOI – CAFU
Nathan KOO-BOOTHE – Bobby MOORE
Thomas Andrew McGARRY – Franz BECKENBAUER
Reece Nicholas JONES – George BEST
Stephen Thomas LAIDLER – Paul GASCOIGNE
Scott Paul DONNELLY – David BECKHAM
Merrick Anthony JAMES-LEWIS – Zinedine ZIDANE
Tyrone Michael Justin BERRY – Johann CRUYFF
Daniel BENNETT – Lionel MESSI
Reece William CONNOLLY – Gary LINEKER
David Charles TARPEY – Diego MARADONA
Elvis Zark HAMMOND – PELÉ
Spencer DAY – José MOURINHO (Manager)
Leigh James Thomas DYNAN – Paddy POWER (Assistant Manager)
Simon John GARDENER – Sir Alex Fergurson (Coach)
Roger Leslie PEIRCE – Terry Venables

With it looking like Suarez is going to stay it really does look that way.
