To my knowledge it is perfectly legal to record a conversation, so long as at least one party to the conversation is aware it is being recorded.

Since you would be aware, record away!

Actually, she could sue me for recording her without her knowledge. Florida law. Also, I couldn't use it in court.
The only time I can record without her knowledge is in public, such as if she threatened me at the mall or whatever, but not at home.

A few months ago I was in my carport puttering around. She came blasting out of her side door yelling "She's in the carport! She's in the carport right now!" Wow, I must be a major criminal. I would laugh except I find it too frightening.

My situation is not half as bad as some others I found online.

So anything new, Kybosh?
My neighbor's in her carport now, haha, talking on the phone in her fake sweet voice, probably to the woman who gives her all the money...what a weirdo.
Personally I have a nasty neighbour times by 10, we are at the situation to either (a) Sell the home or (b) have a professional company to install cameras.

Camera feed has to be done correctly to avoid legal issues....

I was told there are many homes in Calgary that are using Cameras due to problem neighbour sydrome.

I would never install it myself.

In Canada I think that's true but not in Florida.

Ah yeah, sorry about that. I assumed that you were in Alberta.

I have no knowledge of Florida law.

I wonder how police use wires down there? Maybe there is a special exemption from the law?

Sorry about your problem, flambers. I plan to sell in a bit over a year. I don't plan to put a for sale sign out though, I don't think. I stopped working outside in my yard because when she's home, she has some kind of radar for what I'm doing. She will drive by and watch me. A few months ago I had a tech come out to see if it would be worth installing a dedicated DSL line. She heard us talking out in the yard, and she did a drive by. A few minutes later she drove by again, really slowly, on the wrong side of the road so she would be closer. I didn't realize that the tech's truck said Voice-Data-Security on the side. Perhaps it scared her. I really think this is her mission, and she gets off on this, unbeknownst to her rich buddy in Boston.

If it was recorded by a Cell Phone etc. not sure.

Not sure about Florida or other provinces.

Scary part is the Nasty Neighbour syndrome is getting very common.

Next time I want to meet the Neighbour before I buy...

OMG I agree with you. I am going to hang around the neighborhood at all hours for weeks. I am going to listen for loud, nasty conversations, talking birds, bitchy old ladies who have nothing to do (I'm no longer young but jeez I have a full life!) but slam the kitchen and car doors 100 times in 5 minutes (what my neighbor is doing now). I kinda know where I might want to go, so I subscribe t that local paper and read the police blotter- I can already tell certain streets have oddball problems.
Since it's a somewhat rural area near the Ocala Forest, there's a chance of meth labs, so that's another thing for me to consider. There have been issues there in the past. Also, try to read forums dealing with the area. Just make sure the posters aren't in real estate haha. I was surprised how many problems there can be with neighbors even when 20 acres apart. Jeez.

Wish I could remember the name of the book I saw on Amazon. It discussed how adult/neighbor bullying is becoming more common.

Wait, she can sue you for recording her? This is the same state that has the "stand your ground" law?

Isn't that sick? I mean, what asshat is going to threaten you in public. They want to get you in private where it is extremely frightening.

Mmm, maybe I should do a SYG, but I don't exactly have the right equipment. Oh well.

Might I add that this woman is originally from Texas ahaha and she lets you know it too.

Buy the home on the other side of her and be sure to rent it out to the worst tenants possible.

Can not be used for what?

It is perfectly legal to record a conversation you are having with someone in Canada.

I spoke to a Company that does this for a living if a Camera is install on your home. If it has a Mic; voice can not be used as evidence.

Only the digital feed, thats the law within Alberta according to a Company that installs the Camaeras etc...

However if you are using a hand held voice recorder that is a different scenario.

You should sell your house to someone worse than her. Like a cannibal or something. That way she'd know how good she had it before.

Watch Pacific Heights and get some pointers from Michael Keaton's character.

Argue in the middle of the public street right in front of your house....

Might even draw some witnesses.

Seriously you have to move or gather enough evidence to prove your side.
