The real damn reason I could care less for the police is because of something that happened when I was little and ever since that day I have little to no respect for them. If you don't like that's a damn shame because it still is scared into my damn head. I think it's best I just leave it at that. Maybe next time I'll just shut my damn trap when it comes to things dealing with the police.

I'm sure the officer randomly decided that day was the day he was going to beat the crap out of an innocent woman. Sure she looks like she was injured in a confrontation but lets not jump to conclusions that it wasn't warranted and that she was possibly and very likely was uncooperative and did in fact resist arrest.

And I'm sure this dentist randomly decided that day was the day to start a fight with a cop on the side of the highway.

I agree with you though that we shouldn't jump to conclusions. You know, conclusions like "she was possibly and very likely was uncooperative and did in fact resist arrest".

I'd believe a doctor before I believed a sheriff any day of the week.

How about innocent til proven guilty, isn't that what our whole justice system was founded on?

I'm interested to see what the investigation reveals.

And sheriffs really aren't cops, they're not trained to the same standards at all.

They're pretty much highway meter maids.

Which is a problem, since they're given guns and can enforce any provincial or federal law. Seems no different than the mandate of the RCMP, CPS, or whoever else.

The one source here is bias and prone to making themselves out to be the hero. The same way you wouldn't trust Zimmerman's word as the final say or claim Garon Sebastian is 100% truthful, it's not a bad idea to reserve judgment until the other party can place their conflicting story on the table.

Even if he is 100% innocent and they have video evidence or something to prove it, isn't it odd that he's not suspended with pay until they conclude (or say they've concluded) an investigation?

A Lethbridge Police officer is currently suspended with pay pending the outcome of an investigation of excessive force after a drunk teenager had a couple chipped teeth after a struggle getting him into the car. This seems far worse than that.

Well you know if there wasn't the possibility of threats to their lives and the lives of other civilians there wouldn't be a need.

But it wasn't that long ago that a Sherrif was gunned down by a nutcase right?

Theirs always more to the story, she also looks like she could have been dealt with easier then she was.

But she could have also thrown a complete and utter hissy fit tantrum the likes of which you can not fathom which required substantial force. Video is your friend in those situations.

I am convinced things like this will increase in frequency as well, not for lack of particular training by police services even, but how society is developing. People skills all around seem to be lacking as day to day interaction and conflict resolution goes to the wayside from an early age.

Actually this is how mature lucid adults act. You do your best to not make snap judgements and weigh both sides of the story.

Lets be honest here. The woman is not an innocent victim. The sheriff didn't just randomly decide today was the day he was going to beat someone up. I have little doubt that her story is leaving out large portions of the truth. Her side of the story is way to simple to be believable.

But that does not necessarily mean the sheriff was in the right either. Injuries to her face and chest could indicate that as part of some struggle, she was tackled to the ground pretty hard. It is also possible that he may have struck her after she stopped resisting. If that is the case, then hopefully he does face charges.
