Don't think so at all. Needs way more development there. He forgot to throw his stick as he went down.

He's played Monahan at center for the entire camp. Why suddenly flip him to the wing, and then take out one of your biggest and fastest forwards? Facepalm at Brent for those brilliant moves.

On the flip side, lovin what Gillies is bringing. Just lovin it.

Like I said before, he's probably our 2nd best. I'm much more confident Gillies develops into an NHL difference-maker than Gaudreau.

Really? Hopefully there is some sarcasm there. Its called development camp. You play people at different positions in different combinations to see what happens.

I can guarantee you the coaching staff doesn't give a rats ass if they win or not. Its about learning more about each player and giving everybody a chance to showcase themselves.

Wait until December 26 if you need to bitch.

As Schooner said, it is development camp.

Sutter is looking not only looking to see who the best players are, but also what the best players are for certain roles, and how dynamic their games are with respect to moving through the lineup. I would rank Monahan as the best center at camp right now, followed by Gauthier and then Reinhart (though Gauthier slots in much better as the 3rd liner center, and Reinhart as the 2nd).

However, injuries happen. Sutter is trying to see who looks comfortable playing out of position, how smart they are and how dynamic they are out there.

In my mind, Jankowski has done well from this standpoint. He may not have played himself onto the team at this point, but he most assuredly has not played himself off it either, and that is due to his demonstrated ability to play different positions and different roles.

For tournaments like these, coaches really like to see what players bring under different circumstances that might end up happening as the tournament progresses. Maybe Sutter wants to see if someone like Monahan can play wing as effectively as Shinkaruk, who probably isn't ready at all to play center in case of injury. Someone like Monahan (or other centers) make the team rather than a winger, as a 'safety' that perhaps another center gets injured during the tournament.

Really lots of reasons. Getting the win is the last of them, however. These games are just for the players to prove themselves, and the coaches to see what they have and how to begin thinking of slotting them properly for their roles.

Domi passes the puck to Nurse at the point... Sieloff comes away from the front of the net to fearlessly block Nurse's shot

Why is that depressing? He is expected to be lights out this year, it would be a massive disaapointment if he wasn't. Still way too early to say passing on him for Jankowksi was a mistake. I'm still happy with the Janko pick. If you think you can get a potential #1 centre you take one. Small, skilled wingers we're quite deep in so I like the attempt at a home run with Jankowksi.

So now that the camp is over, did Jankowski hold his own and look like he belonged? Or was his being there simply a favour to his uncle, when he shouldn't have been invited on his own merit?

Maybe that came off as more negative than was meant to. Cripes, I'm just ranting. Calm the #### down, I know it's development camp. Thanks tips.

Got to love Seiloff's attitude. He looks like he really wants to block that shot. He's practically scrambling to make that puck hit him. A for effort.

TT is a small - and from what I've seen, fairly soft -winger. No question he has lots of talent and I would fully expect that he will get points against other teenagers. However, we shall see if he can become a solid NHLer.

There is no way that I would trade Jankowski and Sieloff for TT.

I honestly believe that TT will be the third best NHLer of the three.

I think it really could be. A poster a while ago said that he's a 6'3" player who plays like Gaudreau and I can kind of see that. Janko was the youngest kid in his league last year so naturally he got muscled around a lot. I think that stunted his physical game quite a bit. A kid like Janko is just too intelligent to play the body against kids who are much stronger than him. His league has practically trained him to not play a physical game. Over last year he managed to put 15 pounds of muscle on and he's constantly talking about how that is his focus over the offseason. I think next year we're going to see Janko be on par physically with the juniors and seniors. He won't be pushed around as much and I think that he'll discover that he's actually pretty capable of being the one who does the pushing.

We'll see when fall rolls around.

I did not know Teuvo was small, makes me happy.
HockeyDB lists him as 5'10" 185 lbs. By no means tiny, but not 6'2" either. About Baertschi's size or a bit smaller.

The problem with guys that size is it's top 6 or nothing, usually. And we shall see if he progresses that far.

TO be clear, I am not trying to say he won't. But I would rather have the other two in our prospect pool.

Especially considering we already had Baertschi and Gaudreau in the system.

He looked like he belonged. He was solid defensively, was able to keep up with plays, and showed a couple of flashes of offensive brilliance every game. Was able to switch to LW, C, or RW during a game without it having it effect his game negatively.

If he was American, Swedish or a Finn, I would expect him to be a lock for the 3rd line on any of those teams, but given the depth of the Canadian forward group I still think it is unlikely he makes the team.

I agree, I put him 3rd after Monahan and Baertschi.

Can't believe that Adam Erne fell to the 2nd round. I really wanted the flames to take him with the 22nd pick. Tampa with a steal.
