I like how Jankowski stopped in front of the net instead of skating by. That is why he got the scoring chance.

Jankowski gets a one timer off right in front of the net then goes back in for another shot on net. Spoiler tags because the gif is large in size:

Nystrom wasn't 6th overall he was 10th.
Also Eric Nystrom isn't an elite player by any stretch of the imagination but let's not go declaring a guy with 408 NHL games to his credit as not amounting to a "hill of beans".

^ can someone please show me how Jankowski lacks aggressive play - all I see is good puck pursuit and a strong willingness to go to the front of the net. Also, plenty of good hockey sense.

Sorry, I was thinking Rico Fata and typed Eric Nystrom. You're right, Nystrom at least turned into a NHL player. I wish Fata would have.

That is a great clip of Jankowski.
Shows his hockey sense, and some great puck pursuit.
Crazy when watching that clip to see how much of the ice he covered compared to everybody else. That is exactly the type of assertiveness that people were looking for from him in the Flames camp.
Hopefully they gave him that feedback and he is working on it. Because if he brings that every night in Providence this season he will have a great year.

That was more of the Jankowski I saw at the tail end of last season. I seriously think the only things keeping him out of the NHL are the three C's; consistency, composure and confidence. I think with confidence comes the other two. His instincts are crazy. The rest of his skill set reminds me of Nieuwendyk.

I'm glad we skipped on Petan.
However, I do wish that Gauthier had dropped one more spot to us. If we had gotten him and still potentially could have gotten Poirier at 28, that would have been solid.

Gauthier looks like Tyler Biggs 2.0. I don't understand his hype.

I have never been impressed by Gauthier either. I would take Petan over him at half his size any day.

He was drafted by the Leafs, so CBC and TSN told me that he has to be good.

Sam Reinhart really stood out. Amazing that he is 2 years younger than some of the other players. Smart intelligent player.
Poirier was okay overall made some good plays. Unfortunately he didn't really get a chance to show off his speed.
Jankowski showed off his untapped potential in the 2nd but kind of went back to being passive in the 3rd. By my count I think Jankowski ended up with at least 6 SOG.
Lepsic and Petan showed off their already existing chemistry and I think their line was the best for Canada (started with Poirier but Jankowski was moved onto it in the 3rd).
Wasn't really impressed with Mantha. Shinkaruk I didn't notice until the EN goal.

great to see Jankowski fitting in......I really like the kid, but I still think we should have just drafted Teravainen.
Will be interesting to see if Janko + Sieloff can be > than Teuvo in the long run.
