Default Two Thugs with Knives Picked on the Wrong Kid

I've been meaning to share this on cp, one of my son's teammates (just graduated) was in the Senior Kansas All Star game in Topeka, KS about a week ago. He set a rushing record for our school district at more than 2200 yards this past year and he's only 155lbs and about 5'7. His parents and his uncle stopped off at a well lit convenient store/gas station after the game and left him in the car, where two thugs approached him with a knife and tried to rob him of his wallet and phone. This is what happened:

Brett might be short, but he's strong. I thought you guys might find it interested in light of all of the 'stand your ground' talk, etc. I think Brett was very brave, I don't think I would have been! One Tough Kid.

Cool story, but stupid choice. Lucky he only got stabbed in the leg and it didn't hit an artery. Your phone's not worth your life no matter how many photos of topless high school girls you have on there.

Yeah, his mom was upset, but Brett is insane, he has inner rage that no one can quash. Sometimes thugs run into these types of people, but most of the time they don't.

Not that I think he should be, at all, but could he be charged now for stabbing the attackers? Just curious cause the law works in mysterious ways sometimes.

Glad he didn't get hurt any worse.

Oh hell no, the kid stabbed him first, he just grabbed the knife and started swinging. Nothing wrong with defending yourself. I hope the two punks think before doing that again. They picked on him because they thought he was small and tiny. Big mistake. That kid ran down the field with 300 pound players on his back. Thug was stabbed 5 times in the collar bone. Shouldn't play with knives. I am just glad Brett didn't get hurt, or shot.

seems dangerous not to have the thieves in custody and to do a story on him explaining exactly who he is and where he goes to school.

Side note, that was a great run they showed!

You say that, but the second he started chasing after them with a knife it would open up a can of worms in a lot of places. As unjustly as it is.

Little known fact, I was a soldier in that movie. I got to get blowed up by a mortar. It was simple. Run out to that little flag, and when the thingy blows up next to you, hit the ground and play dead. Well, hoping to win an oscar for my role as random soldier 372, I over did it and I royally screwed up. I dove as far as I could, and somehow managed to sack myself with the butt of my rifle and bust the plastic bayonet off when I hit the ground. Instead of being dead, I was writhing in sack pain until they yelled cut. I actually think I ruined the scene, as the explosives guy got all pissed off, and moved we way up the hill with all the 'special' extras.

Alas my Hollywood career ended, as soon as it started, and my dramatic death scene ended up on the cutting room floor.

I don't like that this got any publicity, it puts the wrong idea into young kids minds. Kids that aren't capable of defending themselves try this stunt they will end up dead.

But if he didn't react he could be dead just the same.

Possible, but odds are that he'd be down a phone and that's it. Most thieves are out to steal, not steal and murder.
