I do think Sylvan is selling Smith a little short though. I think he might come in higher than 20th in the league for the Chiefs this season.
I'm starting to hate people pretending that coaches statements are meant to be taken with anything but a massive grain of salt. He's selling his quarterback, both to the fans and to his team.

Still if he says I have a really good QB here, and I think our offence will be significantly improved, doesn't that sell the guy to the fan base yet still seem credible?

Packers have signed Vince Young to a 1 year deal.

Gurgle.

Maybe he can run the read option in practice well enough to allow the D to learn how to defend it. Otherwise, the guy who couldnt stick with the Buffalo Bills last year as a backup, would have the ball in his hands in the event Rogers goes down for any length of time...which would be a catastrophe for cheesehead nation.

I think your asking for way too much. Did he oversell him? Sure. Does it matter? Not at all. Statements to the press and actual internal thoughts on players abilities/roles in an organization are often not going to be anywhere close to each other.

a very significant loss, Packers getting a second opinion today on Bulaga's status.. although I don't think I've ever hear of a second opinion being significantly different from a first one.
Jordy Nelson looks to be out the remainder of the preseason and maybe into week 1-2 of the regular season.

Greg, dude, listen to your coach and shut the #### up already.

“When I came over here, I was kind of brainwashed,” Jennings told Paul Allen and Ben Leber of KFAN radio. “There’s no ‘kind of’ to it. Being over in Green Bay, you’re brainwashed to think anyone in the division is tiers below. And so coming over here I meet the people within the organization and I’m like, ‘Wow, these are really great people.’

‘It’s like everything that you know in Green Bay is like the best, the best, the best, the best, the best,” Jennings said. “And it’s like total brainwashing. And I think you don’t open your eyes to see what other teams have to offer unless you are in that position.”

The stupid thing about those comments is that....its mostly true.

GB has been the best team in that division for his time with the Packers, so it isnt anything but sour grapes that the Pack didnt cave into his salary demands when he says this crap and his claims that AR isnt the leader of the club etc etc etc.

I have lost any and all respect for that guy now...and i was a HUGE fan. I cant wait until his return to Lambeau...should be a real treat.

Almost magically, Eric Wright is healthy again, signs with the 49ers

Quote:
Wright looked like he was headed to San Francisco last month when the 49ers agreed to a trade with the Buccaneers for Wright in exchange for a conditional draft pick, but the Niners failed him on his physical and Wright wound up getting cut in Tampa. Now, after Chris Culliver tore his ACL, the 49ers have circled back and signed Wright to a one-year deal. The team also announced that Wright was placed on the non-football injury list upon signing.

“We are pleased to welcome Eric to the 49ers organization and look forward to his contributions,” General Manager Trent Baalke said in a statement from the team. “Eric is currently tending to a personal matter and he will join the team as soon as possible.”

Taking lessons from New England there John?

I like that move, good vet presence that still has a bit left in the tank.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but this year Shaw's sunday ticket includes NFL Red Zone and their streaming app will also work on the iphone. Although it's a bit more money (~200) it's worth it for the upgrades such as those.

So much for Ozzie Newsome saying he needed to get younger and faster as he has added Visanthe Shiancoe, Brandon Stokley, and now Dallas Clark since the start of training camp.

I love the moves, though it just makes me think that the young guys aren't cutting it and that's just disappointing. Then again maybe it's just that the young guys aren't cutting it YET. Doesn't mean that's permanent.

Tebow time!

Quote:
Any Tom Brady injury news is big news. It remains to be seen whether Wednesday's developments qualify as a serious concern or just a brief scare for Patriots fans.

Brady left practice Wednesday with an injured knee, according to multiple reporters on the scene. The Patriots are practicing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in New England.

Greg Bedard of SI.com watched Brady grab his left knee, limp off, before briefly returning to the field. Brady reportedly did not look comfortable and then had the knee checked out by trainers.

Does Bernard Pollard have an alibi?

I'm putting my Boston trip on hold, was hoping to watch Brady vs Manning on Nov 24. No point going to see Teabow vs Manning now.

It's apparently Tebow's birthday today (literally). From Twitter:

Tim my son, for your birthday I got you the Patriots QB job. Sorry Tom, somebody had to be the Lamb.

Bucs DE Adrian Clayborn apparently just bullrushed Nate Solder into Brady, who suffered the injury then. Nothing further as of yet but Brady did walk off under his own power. I would guess thats it for him until the regular season.

Tebow isn't even the backup QB.

Mallett hasn't claimed the backup spot. If Brady can't go there's definitely a competition there, but I think Mallett wins out based on his being capable of throwing the football at a professional level.

If I remember correctly, Brady walked off the field in 2008 when he tore his ACL. Not always an indicator that it's a minor injury
