Useful player. Skillset and contract are both at a place where really any time in the next two and a half years, he could be moved for a decent return. He's really needed on this team right now, that said. He's a first line player the way the roster looks now.

I enjoy Hudler. Wizard with the puck. Showed me more than I was anticipating last season. Played well enough with almost everyone last year too. Could make for a brilliant line pairing with Monahan.
Man, really wish Cervenka could've worked out. He had such good puck smarts in the offensive zone. I still feel the injuries and lack of conditioning were the biggest factor in his disappointing season, but we'll never know.

I would've liked another 1-year deal, just to see...couldn't have hurt as the team isn't going to be winning anyway... he and Hudler seemed to have some offensive chemistry at times, for sure.
I know I am a debbie downer but all of these highlights show him on the outside making a pass to the high slot or flitting through the scoring zone where the other team has lost him for a second..... there was no won puck battles or surviving contact to make a play.
This is basically the highlights of a fringe player. Not too many of these guys successful in the league.
Playing on a line with Cervenka you can see why they would be leading the team in negative plus minus.
He needs a Franzen type as a centre to reach his potential.... but so does Cammalleri and Baertschi.
Really hope Hudler sticks around as the young guys mature, he is exactly the kind of player you want them to learn from. Never give up on the play.

He's a smart small skill player. He doesn't have an unwillingness to go to high traffic areas, he's just not capable of physically dominating in tight. Hence the one touch passes.
He is what he is; a 45-55 point winger in his late twenties. There's very little to actually complain about with hudler

Yup, nothing wrong with Hudler playing to his strengths. No doubt nobody would be concerned that the somebody like Gaudreau isn't winning board battles and 'bouncing' off physical contact to make plays.
So this shows a few things. Early highlights showcase Stajan favourably. Iggy drew a ton of coverage. And Brent Sutter saying the Flames can't score off the rush... Hudler was a factor in a lot of goals off the rush.
Bittersweet highlight reel. Good to see Hudler is on the ball.
