Just finished off my relocation. Very smooth process and the rep was very helpful.
Got very lucky with my seats. Moved from 215 - upper corner WHITES (as a 1st yr STH) - to centre ice in 226. Also 5 rows lower. The only down side is being more in the middle of the row.
Timing is everything. As mentioned previously, being first does not necessarily mean good seats. It depends on what seats are relocated and at what time.

Why do people think middle of the row is a downside. To me its a positive. You rarely have to get up to let people by. To me not having to move for others greatly outweighs the quick escape or making others move for me.

Seamless move,
Made the move from PL6 Row 6 to PL18 (aisle by PL17) row 2.
Seemed like a no-brainer to me, gave up central view for the lower sections, so stoked!

With all these positive relocations is anyone else getting suspicious about the quoted renewal rates?

I am super stoked about it actually. I am hoping to get seasons this year and based on all this movement people are doing I like my chances.

I will let you know about renewal rates tomorrow. I was about #290 on the 2nd level hot house list. If I get offered anything better than top row of 209 then there was likely a decline in renewals.

No. You have to keep in mind that every time someone changes their seats, it opens up their old seats for someone else. They could start the day with just one pair of seats available, and by the end of the day, you could still easily have had 10 or more people who upgraded.
If they started the day with 100 pairs available (which is 1% of the building), it's not hard to imagine that they could do hundreds of moves a day, and have every person feel like they improved their seats.

That's great if you don't ever need to move. If you have young families where food or pee breaks will come at anytime then closer to the aisle is better for yourself and those around you.

Some rationale for myself...well for my son...he's up and down 4-5 times each game. Just like to be closer to the aisle to be more considerate to my seat mates. Point is well taken that center in the row is good for not having to move to let people in...maybe in a few years...

depends if your row is there to watch each period or more for the atmosphere.

I was #65 on the list last year for second level, sucks cus I don't think I can take my seats this year as I just moved to Red Deer.
Will probably have to defer them to next year and pay the $200 Hot House fee again. I wonder what happens then, do I just stay at the front of the line for next year?

You will move up the list and just stay behind anyone who is ahead of you already and also passes on tickets. I think you can pass either two or three years before you lose your spot on the list.

Moved down three rows in 211, and a little closer to the blue line. Happy that upgrade was available. Bench side, Flames blue line, middle of the section, perfect. Down side, long line at the bathroom.

Yes, pay the money and you stay at the front of the line. I have been deferring a second set and am like #8. Not really a bad deal if you use the pl and the hitman tics.

Sigh.. had to wait 2 days to get my account approved. Wanted to share my relocation experience as I see some unanswered questions here.
We've had PL seats for several years now, row 10 in PL8. Not a bad view and the cheapest seats in the house. But the crowd... has been getting less pleasant every season. Especially during Canucks games but that's to be expected. It's just .. the riff-raff. I'd rather be surrounded by other STH; having sat all over the Dome people tend to behave themselves more if they come back every few days. We've been kicked, spilled upon, nearly in several fights, and dealt with more drunks than I can shake a stick at. The last straw was a game late in the season where a huge guy projectile vomitted on an entire section. Cleared out nearly 2 sections up there. Fortunately we didn't get any on us but my girlfriend refused to go to any more games. Think Stand By Me, if anyone remembers the movie. It was the single most disturbing thing I've ever seen and I couldn't sleep or eat for days. People were covered in the stuff. Call me a princess but I'm there to watch the game, not that BS. Anyway, we weren't going to renew unless we got something better, and then the flood hit and the relocation was .. sub-optimal. That's all beside the point.
Went down on Wednesday, which was way better than calling in. Almost no one there, so the Flames agent spent a ton of time looking at all of our options. We were eyeing some Greens (the ones in 208 that someone took yesterday, I believe) when I casually asked "anything in PL rows 1-3?". She brought up the list on her screen which I couldn't really see, then said "I need to check something, be right back". I then craned my neck around to see the screen - and like 10-15 pairs of tickets in the first 3 rows were available. Including... drumroll... a pair in row 1! Which is what she was triple-checking for us, as she wanted to make sure before offering them.
So yeah. Row One, baby! Can't believe our luck. But there were a surprising number of rows 2-3 available, I wish I had been able to tell people about that earlier. Totally worth going down and spending the time. I went from giving up on season tickets to more excited about a season than I've been since moving here in the first place.
LOTS of people were moving around, which seemed a first in many years. I hope some hot house members get some luck today as there are certainly a lot available.

PL9. Which while way on the end, is in the attacking zone and more importantly, there's no section behind us to throw stuff at us when the Flames lose.
It's also the closest to the stairs, which is handy. I hate how slowly people file out of the nosebleeds.
Edit: come to think of it, I believe we saw another pair of row ones on the other deck - PL17 or so. No idea if these have been taken by now.

I used to have two seats in the front row of that section and they were pretty sweet. You can pop up in a TV timeout and go to the washroom (right behind the seats). There is a catwalk to your left that provides easy access to the press box because the elevator is on that side. So you see lots of opposing teams injured players and GM's walking by. And the Olympic lounge is right below you, so you can have drinks waiting on a reserved table for you at intermission if you ask the waitress at the start of the game.
