I think Leifeld gets way too much hate. The problem is he was part of the last group of artists not using computer technology. If you look at a lot of the drawing styles and continuity from the pre-computer days, it's all full of disproportioned characters and errors.

He doesn't get enough hate.

Aside from the robots, the site also revealed that the X-Gene Inhibitor Collar, a device in the comics that blocks mutant abilities, will apparently be making an appearance in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’
Too lazy to scroll back, but whoever said that about the Beast photo, you were right!

Guess we know where much of the 250 million dollar budget is going to. They only spent 160 on First Class, so this one needs to be a mega-hit in order for it to be a success. It would almost be better if this movie is a bomb at the box office, and then somehow Marvel/Disney gets the rights back to the characters. Don't see that happening, but it already happened with Daredevil, and could happen with Fantastic Four as well.
The last movie that had a massive viral campaign was Prometheus too, and that was considered to be a disappointment in almost every aspect; it's going to be interesting to see how effective a similar strategy will be for Days of Future Past.
Prometheus had a budget of 130 million and took in over 400 million worldwide.
As many haters as it has, it has the equal amount that love it. You couldn't be more wrong when say it was a disappointment.
Days of Futures past is building off the solid Xmen Franchise and the renewed love for it because of how good First Class was. I have my concerns, but you're beyond off base here.

I'm a big fan of both Prometheus and First Class. A lot of the knocks against Prometheus can be made agaisnt he original Alien too or just about any sci-fi/horror flick. The problem was it was disected under a microscope, when it's a concept that by it's very nature requires suspension of disbelieft.
First Class, I went into with extremely low expectations. X3 and Wolverine Blew. Based on the ad campaign, I thought this would be some kind of WB teen movie. I couldn't have been more wrong.
Fasbender's performances save both films IMO and turn two good films into two great films.

Hey, I liked Prometheus, it wasn't a classic by any means, but it was still pretty good. Although it most definitely wasn't a major success considering expectations going in. It's at the point where it's pretty much only 50/50 that there will even be a sequel to the movie. Sure it made money, but less than they expected It's sort of like Girl With the Dragoon Tattoo, it did make money, but it still cost a lot to produce, and didn't end up being the windfall some had expected. There isn't going to be a sequel to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (at least not one in the near future), and there are already reports out that plans for a Prometheus sequel are in trouble.
I won't even consider how many fans of the series were let down by Prometheus, as I thought it was reasonably good. Although I wouldn't be too saddened if they went in a different direction in the series though.
Even First Class only performed so-so at the box office. Once Wolverine passes it First Class will be the lowest performing domestic X-Men release at the box office out of all six movies (Origins included). In terms of worldwide performance it only took in more than the original X-Men movie. Based on the 250 million dollar budget for Days of Future Past it will need to rake in 150 million dollars more than its predecessor to even break even at the box office. I am sure it will end up accomplishing that, but it's not a sure thing. There are huge risks involved in taking this from a 130 million dollar (although other estimates have it at 160) budgeted movie into a 250 million one. It's been a great series for the most part, but can it deliver the same numbers that only Batman, Spider-Man, Avengers, and Iron Man have done before? First Class was only a modest hit, but sequels are usually expected to outperform origin stories, so we'll see if it was be the case with Days of Future Past as well. Bryan Singer sure could use a hit after Jack the Giant Slayer and Superman Returns though, so I doubt he'll risk too much in screwing this one up.
Here's a pretty thorough take on the history of the X-Men movie franchise heading into Days of Future Past.
I re watched Prometheus not that long ago and I really liked it the second time.. the first time I sort of liked it.
I can re watch First Class though any time, anywhere. I can say the same about the first two X Men as well.
Not Last Stand though, I tend to be like Tobias after watching that..

(Abridged)
With movies series like these, the quality of the previous movie tends to define how much money the following one makes (The first Austin Powers movie made way less money than the following two). X3 made tons of cash based on the strength of the first two movies, while First Class happened after origins and X3.
First Class seems to have sat very well with fans and may have renewed faith in the series (I'm basing this entirely on the internets reaction, which has a pretty good track record for comic book movies), that, combined with the rising stars of Fassbender, Lawrence and the current market for gritty super-hero reboots, could add up to some serious box office mojo.
E: Liefield is terrible, but I really enjoyed his X-Force run.

X:3 is a movie that gets worse and worse everytime you watch it. The only thing it has going for it are effects and grandiose atmosphere. The more times you watch it, the more you are left to deal with the bad writing, corny jokes, bad acting, etc...
Not to mentiont them arbitrarily decided to kill off most off many of the characters.....
As soon as I heard Fassbender would be back, I knew the upcomming movie woudl be good. I also think the time periods make more sense for the actors involved. Paquin is 31 now. She's a bit old to be playing a teenage Rogue. Her playing an older Rogue in the dystopian near future makes a lot more sense. Fassbender et al playing the 80s version of the x-men characters also makes sense.
The worst part of X3 for me is still Hugh Jackman's hair. It was just a really horrible cut/wig compared to the other movies. A stupid thing to pick on when there was so much wrong with the movie, but it's what always bugs me the most when I watch it.
