Aren't the 60K+ wages coming from those who don't declare their tips? I worked as a waiter for 6 years and I didn't know anyone who paid taxes on them.

That kind of money is easy to make there, when you don't have to give 25% to the government.

And that's why most people can't do it forever. Pretty hard to get a mortgage when your only recognized income is minimum wage.

In Alberta Minimum wage is almost $10 an hour. That changes based on province though.
