Thor,
Excited for you. Inspired by you. I've gradually put on weight over the last 20 years and, although I didn't add any weight for the first time in a long time this past year, I'm to the point where I've had enough @ 330#. In the past, I've considered 'outing' myself here as a motivation but always talked myself out of it. Lately, I have seen my reflection in a window and questioned if it is reality. I can't possibly look that way!
Moving back to Montana last month, and to a less sedentary lifestyle as a result, was step 1 of a massive life changing process for me.
The present version of me is not who I am nor who I want to be. Time to change.
Good luck and thank you.

Take a journal and document/complain/analyze your thoughts through the whole process!
I wish you the best, and, in this case, I hope you are the biggest loser.

Good luck Thor. Being an intelligent person will pose interesting challenges for you. Don`t over analyze things, just work. Get reconnected with your body to become your true `self`. Try to take away 2 or 3 simple tools for your day to day life, and one profound realization about your mentality or emotions that has been letting you live this way so you can choose to change it once and for all.

A timely article today in the New York Times - "How Exercise Changes Fat and Muscle Cells."
http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/0...f=general&_r=0
The more I run - longer/shorter, differing intensities - and with more frequency through the week, the less my apetite is suppressed. If I'm really into it - working up for a marathon or something - I'll completely forget to eat a lunch or a supper sometimes.
Swimming used to be the opposite for me - intense, frequent exercise but an appetite that would never end. Not sure what was up with that.
Good luck with your efforts. The follow-thru, when the cameras are gone, will be the most important I think. Easy to slip then. Its about making lifestyle choices and employing discipline. And enjoying the new lifestyle.
Best wishes.
Cowperson

Awesome! Yeah I have for long time been afraid to openly talk about it, this show forced me to do it and I embraced it, the vast majority of people are so supportive and willing to raise you up if you give them a chance.
CP is such a great community and I get inspired by so many people here on so many things, hit me up on FB and we can always chat about sticking to this challenge ahead!

Will have to find this online I can catch your 'confessional' moment of pain and honesty when the going gets tough and you're about to break.I give it a 76 percent chance of including a pro science/anti religion slant to the rant.
In all seriousness, the best of luck to you in the contest and more importantly to your journey to health and wellness. You know there will be dozens (hundreds?) of people over here cheering you on.
And now I can stop picturing you as a brilliant but dorky acne ridden teen. Actually always interesting to find out what some of the celebrated posters on the board look like. I'm almost always wrong. Cept for Cowperson.

Good luck to you. You seem like a good guy so I really hope that this helps you to acheive your goals. Just please try to avoid breaking down in tears which seems to be commonplace on these shows now. So many otherwise decent shows/personal sagas are ruined by unnecessary, shloppy melodrama. And of course, try to fit in some Flames paraphenalia wherever possible, or possibly a "the sky is blue, the C is red" reference.
