If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

in North American culture, a "Happy Ending" is...
NSFW!

oh, and nsfw means not safe for work.

Lastly, the "common waiter" is not what you are expecting. Waiters, or "servers" that make a lot of money are usually good looking girls, who either bartend (pour alcoholic drinks), work in bars, or perhaps serve at very expensive restaurants.

an example of a common waiter:

male servers make much...much less here.

Well, let's consider this. The average number of workdays in a full month (assuming full time work) is about 21. That means, post tax, you need to earn about 145 per day. Assuming consistent 8 hour work days, that's 17.45 dollars per hour.

The minimum wage in Alberta is $9.05 per hour if your establishment sells alcoholic beverages. That means the rest, assuming absolutely no tax, is $8.40 per hour in tips. This doesn't seem likely in my mind.

We could also consult this website:

http://alis.alberta.ca/occinfo/Conte...RO_ID=71002921

Which lists the mean take home as about $9.75/hour. Even a couple years out of date, that seems like bit of a stretch to make $17.45/hour.

Increasing the number of hours worked per week may alter this slightly, but not enough. Even if you work 10 hour days, that's still ~$14/hour.

I get within range of that number if I plug in all days of a month as work days plus working 10 hour days ($10/hour)

When I used to work for an engineering company, there were a lot of people working there who had qualifications that may not be recognized in Canada. They were doing other jobs, like document management, etc. That might be a better course of action; do something like that as you upgrade your schooling, and then you also have someplace that will hire you once you are done school.

This made me laugh, possibly because I pictured this guy saying it.
