This kind of thinking is what causes people to buy magnetic bracelets or those balance bands.

Point is, I don't care if a pill causes a placebo effect to solve my problem, if it works it works.

Exactly! This is what I've been trying to get across. I don't really care how it works, all I know is that I am not getting sick taking them. That's all that matters. If it's really just a placebo effect, then who cares? It works for me. I'll make it clear for some of the over-thinkers in this thread:
Vitamin = placebo
placebo = works!
Then,
Vitamin = works!
And,
Ozy_Flame = keep taking vitamins
Pretty simple, folks!

I only take my multivitamins on day's I don't get enough from my daily diet and days I train. I personally haven't noticed much of a difference though, and waste really planning on purchasing more in the future.

My BS meter goes off when people say they haven't had a cold or flu for a number of years. I guess it is possible, but I seem to get infected 2-3 times a year. Could have to do with being a parent of small children.

Where does vitamin = potentially harmful enter into the equation?

The problem with that statement is the question of what if the ingredients of the placebo are actually detrimental over the long term as is potentially the case with multivitamins.

You must have it mistaken for cyanide pills. For which, you could take a placebo and it would have the same effect.

I haven't been sick in 2 years. I only just started taking multivitamins last month and have not noticed a difference too be honest other than bright yellow urine. You must have a weak immune system and not workout much.

I have rarely taken vitamins and get one very bad cold about every 5 years, which seems to immunize my system for the following 5 years.
I do believe Canadians should periodically monitor their vitamin D level, and take vitamin D3 supplements during the low sunlight period, late fall / winter / early spring months, under the direction of their GP. I am especially sensitive to this, as my wife suffers from MS.

Yup. I take one Vitamin D pill in the summer and three in the winter. You need about 3000 IU daily. If there's any vitamin you should taking through a supplement, it's this one.

True, but by the same token, are you suddenly just going to stop using cell phones and going outside and into sunlight because they can cause various forms of cancer?
Life offers varying amounts of risk. You just have to balance that risk with your own personal preferences.

Wait, since when does non-ionized radiation cause cancer?

I don't think I have an unusual immune system. I am in good shape. I eat well. Maybe because I have a job where I come into contact with many people every day, and children that come into contact with many other kids at school.
To not be sick for years - you would have to be a hermit or a bubble boy?
