Some interesting additions on the android side so far. Gotta say I'm not a big fan of watching somebody reading right off a slide.

On a side note, I should start watching how much data I have left after streaming thus far on my phone...

Edit: Wow, impressed with the ChromeCast. While I do have a Sony GoogleTV box (bleh), the idea of just doing everything from my devices literally without getting up or using another controller is handy.

If they price this appropriately ($30-$40?) could be a huge thing.

Okay. I'm convinced. I'll take two.

The Chromecast looks like it has a ton of potential, especially at $35.

I'll wait until there are some real world reviews though before considering it.

What almost none of the tech blogs are talking about is how much of the Chromecast stuff has been available via GoogleTV for months. I've been using that little Chromecast icon/button to swap YouTube videos from my phone to my Logitech Revue for a while now. Netflix has had the same button for almost as long, but its never worked for me. Some folks in the Verge comments were saying that this is already been available on the PS3 as well.

At the same time, it was very much limited to Youtube videos as far as I could tell with my Sony Google TV. The fact that they are able to expand the capabilities to things like Netflix, Google Music and having it work flawlessly (at least based on the demo), is impressive for such a little package. Especially with the beta feature of chromecasting from the browser, there's a lot more potential.

Just noticed that Google is bundling 3 months of Netflix with this thing. Smart marketing move on their part and Netflix.

Seems like a fantastic tool with huge potential... For 35 bucks I'll no doubt be picking one up.

Does anyone have a link to the video from this morning?

I had to cut out just after Hugo Barra was going through the Nexus 7 features.

So the chromecast looks like it streams from the internet and not the device. So that's pretty cool. Basically a no ui roku, where your choice of device provides the ui. Seems like a total game changer. Hopefully Google starts getting chromecast added to smart TVs and internet receivers.

Here is an article regarding Chromecast from MobileSyrup: http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/07/24/go...ision-viewing/

If this catches on with app developers, it could be huge.

ChromeCast looks sweet, and it is basically free if you are even remotely interested in Netflix. Only one reason I won't be getting it, single band wireless. Arg, stupid video baby monitor. Hopefully a new version will come out next year that supports both.

I am really shocked it doesn't as a lot of people in apartments have tons of interference, and would really benefit from 5GHz N.

I ordered one for pickup next week, I'll report back once I have it. You're right, basically only costs $11 as that netflix offer was good for existing customers too.

So very jealous.
Also looks like complete screen mirroring on PCs/Mac is doable, though currently in the experimental stage.

Cannot wait to get my hands on it.

Edit: Also for those interested in the new Nexus, Staples is indicating it'lll be available at the end of the month.

The promotion for the 3 months of netflix with the Chromecast has already run out. Seriously Google, people actually want your products stop running out so quickly.

Luckily I got my order for the chromecasts in back when the shipping times were still a couple of days. Will post back to see what they are like when I get them... hopefully.

Really tempting to get the FHD Nexus 7 though I'm not sure if I would even need it with a Note II already.

Now if the Nexus 8 were real, that would be a seller for me.

My Nexus 7 was updated OTA yesterday. Painless transition except now MX Player would not work - same with Mobo Player, Real Player, et cetera.
