I personally like the guy. Ya he gets quite a bit of hate, but he knows his stuff! Has worthwhile thoughts and sees the game well.

Certainly wasn't meant as any shot.
I thought saying he was good at his job and would be tough to replace would be pretty clear but I guess some will read whatever they want into posts.
Also agree (and said) I really liked his honesty and him calling like it is the last two years.

Brent Krahn did some guest spots on the FAN with Kerr a few summers back; he seemed well spoken

I can't stand him and think his long winded boring stories seem better fitted for the junior work he does.
Certainly wouldn't want him in any role that has him as the PBP for radio as I do like listening to games when driving and that maybe enough to keep me away.

Is there a professional reason he would do that? Seems strange that he would drag his family back here to do....nothing?

Count me in as another guy that thought Brent Krahn did a pretty good job...

Yeah, count me in the camp who hopes he gets more work at the station. Pinder has been good too but I think he has more of a knack for talk radio.

Yeah, I think Pinder is doing really well....knows more than Steinberg about most things and I think it annoys him...which pleases me because he doesn't go long winded as much.
Steinberg is much better when he has a nemesis....even if it is a made up in my head nemesis.

Piner might be a good replacement but Loubardias is too positive. I don't think he has said anything negative in his life. I cringe on how he would sugarcoat a dismal team this season.

I am a pretty bug fan of Loubardias, but I can see this. That said, a bit of optimism might be just what the doctor ordered for these next few years.

It's Sportsnet. Rogers' replacement is going to come down to who they can hire at the lowest cost.

Wow. who would have thought Rogers would retire before Maher.
Mike was great! One of the most underrated color guys in the biz!

Agreed there.. I like Loubardias as a pbp guy cause he is exciting... but a bit too much of a fan. A guy like Brent Krahn IMO is way more suited for the gig.

I wonder if this might be a contributing factor in his retirement. He was critical of the team this season (for good reason), but that might have rubbed the powers that be the wrong way.
I can only hope that we don't get stuck with Kevin Quinn and Louie Debrusk style brodcasting during this rebuild where it seems as though their brodcast was sanitized and influenced by team management to overlook the team's many shortcomings.

Had dinner with Mike Rogers at Flames fundraiser a month ago. Not stunned at his retirement. Constantly missing playoffs wears on everyone.

But I can vouch Mike Rogers was a first class guy the whole way whose family was important to him and now he can spend more time with them.

Probably the most honest guy on the radio crew. The rest of the guys on the broadcast are always way too easy on the team.

Offer Peter Maher the Sportsnet TV play by play, Move Kerr to Color. Then just play the sportsnet tv feed on the snet960 using the one crew.
