Pontaic Wave
Seriously looks like a Minivan mashed together with a Ford focus/toyota Matrix.
You think they would have learned from the mistake that is the Aztec, and who can forget the Vibe. Can it get much worse than a hatchback with a spoiler looking like that?

What's worse? The style or the name? Double ugh.

The wheels look way too small. They look like beady little eyes on a fat face.
Edit: spelling is hard.

That "wave" should be a crime against humanity.
Another vehicle I think is fugly, the Dodge Magnum. Sure it's got a great engine, but the style

What is up with these extremely fugly vehicles that keep coming out?
These companies just keep pumping out garbage - its amazing.
And that magnum... ugg thats nasty as well. It all started with the Ford Focus and I guess companies saw the sucess of that, because it sold well (but it was as cheap as dirt) Somehow that is one of the top selling cars in NA.

Ain't nothing wrong with the Dodge Magnum. What's not to like about a powerful station wagon? Of course, I also dig the styling of the old Chevy Nomads.

as with all problems such as ugly vehicles, the blame rests on consumers that eat 'em up!
note to environmentalists:
change peoples' buying habits, not the people feeding the market demand.
note to people that hate the ugly cars:
tell your friends not to buy them!

Pretty much every car made sonce about 1989 has been bland and ugly. With the exception of some sports car and things like the pt cruiser ( which is still ugly). Most other cars all look the same to me.

I don't know... I think the mustang is starting to finally get better with the new 2005 model. Front end has that Elanor look to it. It's begging for a hood scoop though.

Personally I am in love with BMWs, but if I was going to buy an affordable 2005 car, I would go with the Civic, hands down, compared to whats out there... its not a pile of sh*t.

Bland and ugly since 89? That's a bit extreme I think. There are many nice cars on the current market. In my opinion, cars from the 80's were terrible, inside and out.
A couple current favorites of mine are:
The Acura TL and the EL
Infiniti G35
Mazda RX 8
Mazda 6 is also a well designed car.
Even the new 2005 mustang is pretty sweet. (for a Ford anyway)

personally I think GM has done much worse than this car ( Avalanche anyone? ).....this design is probably borrowed from some European maker, and seems to be going for the Geo Metro/Toyota Echo type of segment.

I'm not sure what designers were trying with the Aztek/Element type cars...hopefully that fad has ended. But, some people wanted to go for the futuristic look.
All in all, I believe there are some nice cars on the market. You just have to find one that suits your style.

Cars like the Element and Aztec were not about the "futuristic look". quite the contrary, they were designed to be as versatile and multifunctional as possible, which in many essences forgoes looks for functionality. The Element isn't my bag visually, but it's actually quite a useful little vehicle, and considering its Honda quality, it can't be all bad.

I think you might have proved FA's point with those links. Those cars all look the same, except for different colors (okay the Infiniti is a little different, but not much).
Until they bring back tailfins, I'm off the market.

The first 2 are pretty non-descript and bland. They look like about 50% of the cars on the road. The 3rd one is pretty unique, but I imagine it's aimed towards a demographic slightly higher than middle class, so it wouldn't be an option for the average person.
Before the 90s, most cars were pretty unique from each other. Today they all have the same basic design, only different grills and hood ornaments. You basically only have a choice between sedan, coupe, SUV, truck, sportscar, and minivan. There are some exceptions, but you don't see nearly the variety that there used to be. Jusr my opinion of course.

Interesting - I had no idea. Do you happen to know (off hand) the capabilities?

well, in the Elements case many of its best features lie in its ability to reshape the interior to many variations ( it has over 60 seating and cargo configurations ). Side cargo doors with no B-pillar open from the center and allow for easy loading of bulky items. For sports gear like mountain bikes, snowboards, surfboards and other equipment, the rear seats flip to the side to create a vast cargo area. Seatback bungee cords allow equipment like skateboards to be stored behind the seats. The rear seats also lay flat to form a bed with the front seats, or can be removed entirely. The clamshell rear tailgate bottom opens down - creating room for two to sit - while the upper part of the tailgate opens up and creates a canopy. It has a removable skylight as well, which is rather cool I think.
I think its actually a pretty good vehicle for people who like going outdoors ( you know, as opposed to the people with the Escalades who just like to pretend they do ). Its fairly small in size, but really big inside and as has been said, really versatile for outdoor gear. Its not pretty, but it certainly does its job and is lot more utilizable than most SUV's. And considering it starts under 20 grand, thats not half-ass bad.
As for the Aztec.....ugh, lets not get into that. Its a horrendous car, even if it tried to be versatile.
