Call the police if you see someone suspicious or you see a crime happening. How could a country empower weekend warrior whackjobs as judge, juries and executioners?

So it doesn't bother you too much..........

He did phone the police...
The courts ruled the shooting self-defence because witnesses saw Zimmerman on the ground being beaten by Martin. Zimmerman had a broken nose and blood coming out the back of his head.

So someone punches you and you can go back and shoot them? Do you think that Canadians should be afforded this right?

Didn't you post almost the same thing several pages back? A civilian cannot shoot anyone dead because they are afraid of them, but they are allowed to shoot them if it saves their own life.
Zimmerman called the police and appeared to handle the situation pretty well, until he basically got attacked by the teen. The teen committed the crime, not the 'weekend warrior'.
I would prefer to live in a country where the citizens can defend themselves.
And by the way, you may want to read up on the case because based on your post you know nothing about it.

If someone jumps you and is repeatedly hitting you to the point that your nose is broken and your head is bleeding I would hope Canadians have the right to take force to stop that.
If in some cases that results in death then so be it. Hard to say yes I want Canadians with blanket rights to shoot them but in many cases it could be warranted to stop the attack.

Except for the fact that the medical examiner testifed that Zimmerman's injuries were "insignificant" and may have been caused by a single blow. Hardly sounds like he was being repeatedly hit to me. Certaintly not to the point where he's justified in shooting a kid.

Got attacked by the teen? Was this proven or were you there? Maybe Z attacked him with his mad MMA SKILLS, but started losing, so resorted to something better, a gun.

How can you run out the bogus "mad MMA skills" garbage in one post and whine about being called out for trolling in the next?

If his nose was broken that is not insignificant and repeated slams against the concrete sounds pretty bad injuries or not.

I guess I prefer to live in a country where we let the justice system deal with issues of justice instead of anybody living in fear and owning a gun.

The justice system did deal with issues of justice in this case.

That is not what happened. Dr. Valerie Rao, the expert you are talking about, testified the wounds on the back of the head "could" have been caused by a single blow. The prosecuation expert was also one of several experts and witnesses.
Beyond the wounds to the back of the head, EMTs testified there were at a minimum two additional wounds to Zimmerman's temple, wounds to his forehead, and the broken nose. The medical expert for the defence, Dr. Vincent Di Maio testitified you could have trauma without visible wounds, and Zimmerman's wounds were the result of at least 6 blows. Additionally, you had an actual witness saying Martin was on top hitting Zimmerman repeatedly "ground and pound" style. There were also many witnesses who testified that Zimmerman was screaming for help.
You've also obviously never been punched in the face hard enough to have your nose broken. Regardless of how life threatening it actually is, it doesn't feel insignificant.

I keep reading this argument, that it was shocking that Zimmerman ended up killing someone who was just a 17 year old "kid". Firstly, how was he to know his age? While Martin may have been 17, he could have been 15 or 25 for all Zimmerman knew. But even if he knew Martin was only 17 years old, that doesn't mean Martin was significantly less likely to be a criminal or a killer. There are plenty of criminals and killers in the US (and elsewhere) that are aged 17 or younger. The average age of killers in the USA has fallen drastically over the years (less than the 26.4 average complied from 1992 studies), and there is no reason to not suspect someone at the age of 17 of being a danger. It was a terrible altercation without a doubt, but just because someone is 17 does not mean they are that much of a lesser danger to society these days.

A little more insignificant than a bullet through the heart.
I still find it hArd to believe he was able to pull a gun from his holster or whatever and get it to angle to shoot someone through the heart, after such a severe grounding and pounding. I mean he should have been concussed after that beat down and how exactly do you get a gun in position to shoot straight when someone is on your chest?

The gun was in his waist not a traditional holster or shoulder holster.
Lie on your back with a gun in your waist band, pull it out and then bring it up its at the natural position to either do a chest shot or under the chin shot.

The only problem you have with your posts is that you blanket believe that Trayvon was the instigator. No one knows who was the instigator except Zimmerman. Trayvon jumping on Zimmerman fits the evidence, but so does Zimmerman attacking Trayvon and then getting his ass handed to him. You seem to think that the first scenario is indisputable. Like I said there wasn't enough evidence to convict, but Zimmerman bears some responsibility for the death of a 17 yr old kid no matter who started the fight.

Evidence provided in court suggested there were no wounds besides the gun shot on Martin. As the prosecution witness testified, Zimmerman got his ass whooped by Martin. Zimmerman's story appeared true as well, Martin did not like the 'cracker' and beat him up.
Oh yeah, no evidence proved at all that Zimmerman attacked Martin and the prosecution dropped even going after that.
Why should Zimmerman have any responsibility? He did nothing illegal. I wish there were people just as active where I live, there have been a dozen or so car prowlings.
Too bad the president did not make a plea for an end to the violence rather than helping make so many turn this to a racial issue.
