usually yes, usually a plane diverting is no big issue or anything, but I don't know if you've heard but the 787 has been having a lot of issues... don't have to try being a smart@#$

Just doing the standard "gear up" test landing?

Well the Russians have always built 'em tough, probably part of their testing.

Depends where you were, airshow has a box which has to be empty during the show. As for spectators, all the acts are designed to direct energy away from the crowd, so they really shouldn't be in danger, whereas someone sitting at the end of a runway would be in a direct flight path. the aerobatic box is 5000 ft wide, 1500' deep and is min 1000' from the crowd. so you could have been close.

I just don't think there has to be a "news story" on every 787 delay/divert etc. Some of it is warranted, most isn't.

Meanwhile, this is a sweet picture.

It's a stupidly beautiful airplane and that pic proves it. I'd love to be on AC's inaugural.

WestJet has announced winter season service from YYC to MIA.

4x weekly October - December and then 6x weekly from mid December until April.

Rumours of a flight from somewhere to YEG and YYC as a single route.

Speculate away! I am thinking it has to be from Asia.

Where are you seeing this rumor?

Asia sounds right, AC already has Tokyo for Calgary so I doubt it will be another Japan destination. China maybe.

Over on Skyscraperpage, a very in the know aviation guy posted about it in the YEG thread.

I can also say that I too know the route, but can't say anything.

Sorry, and unfortunately I have no idea when this may be made public (or if it even becomes reality). I think it will happen though, although chances are it will be a seasonal service and only a few flights a week.

A Southwest plane just landed at La Guardia with the nose gear retracted or broken.

It's one of those low rider planes with the front gear on airbags, going for the slammed look.
