This season, Sheets has 491 yards from scrimmage already and that puts him at 163.7 yards per game. Though just three weeks in, he is on pace for 2,946 yards from scrimmage which would easily eclipse the CFL record set by Mike Pringle at 2,414 in 1994 (and tied by Pringle again in 1998).

The other and certainly more noticeable record that Kory threatens is of course the CFL rushing mark set by Mike Pringle in 1998 at 2,065 yards. That equates to nearly 115 yards per game and in that year Pringle also set the 100-yard game standard at 14 including 13 in a row (from July 31st to October 25th).

No doubt Sheets has gotten off to a record start, but it's way too early to be making those kind of predictions (I realize that Drake is simply posting the article). Defenses will catch up and game plan accordingly for him

Nothing like a good old comedy show, just like Winnipeg had at the end of practice today.

The Bombers sputtering offence lost one of its few firing engines today, as a practice accident sent slotback Cory Watson hobbling off the field.

What was worse: the injury happened on the very last play of practice, when safety Dan West hauled Watson down hard. After checking on the injury with his staff – it’s a wounded hamstring -- Bombers coach Tim Burke made his displeasure clear in very few words.

I’m going to not answer anything about that, because I might say something I’ll regret," Burke said, when asked about his feelings towards West. When asked where he drew the line at practicing at game speed, Burke hammered that point home: "Hurting your own teammates."

The injury will force Bombers staff into a mess of roster moves trying to get the offensive schemes on-line for Friday’s game against the Toronto Argonauts, especially since starters Chris Matthews and Terrence Edwards are also out.

CFL commissioner Mark Cohon is ready to focus on putting a franchise in Atlantic Canada.

With the CFL’s new TV deal signed, its 100th Grey Cup in the books, the new Ottawa franchise set to make its debut in 2014, and a bevy of new stadiums afoot, Cohon is talking to local leaders in places like Moncton and Halifax about a team that could be embraced by all of Atlantic Canada.

“There is a new, very progressive mayor in Halifax who has stated to me his interest in being a strong city builder, and the CFL and a new stadium could be a strong catalyst for urban development in Halifax and the whole region,” Cohon said Friday. “There is a lot of interest and encouragement from our owners and board members saying, ‘Okay Mark, you’ve got Ottawa coming back next year, how else are we going to expand and make this league stronger? Part of the national dream has been a team in the Maritimes, so start cultivating the relationships and working on it.’”

“It would be a great opportunity for the people of the Maritimes to be more connected to the rest of Canada through the power of the CFL, having some 700,000 to 800,000 people each game watch your team play on TV,” Cohon said. “Imagine the pride it can bring to a region, the local jobs and impact on the economy and tourism. We really like the idea of the CFL being a part of something like that.”

“We really have to get through Touchdown Atlantic, talk to leaders in Moncton, to the mayor in Halifax and businesses there, and then we would make a decision about what’s the right city for us,” Cohon said. “Then cultivate a business plan around a possible stadium build and what that project could do holistically for city-building. The message now to fans is that we’re serious, and the time is right to get working on this because of the strength of the modern CFL.”

Miller paired with Forde is the best CFL commentary team without question.

Cuthbert is fine, but in the past few years/since move to TSN his style and sometimes trying to create drama just seems a little bit forced/contrived.

Suitor likes to hear himself talk and tries to make more of a play or situation than is actually there....and when he picks up on something, analyzes it to death and brings it up as many times as possible. He's also like creating false drama.
Dunigan is fine, and excitable, and nothing wrong with that, but suffers from the "everybody is great" analsis and from talking too much.

So I had a convo with a guy from Montreal last night at a friends wedding about Calvillo. He figured that most of Calvillos records are due to the fact that he played in arguably the weakest division in north american pro sports history (CFL East over the past 15 or so seaons). He possibly had more regular season starts against sub .500 competition than anyone else that is even close to the record books. I thought it was an interesting take, from an Als fan no less. The more I think about it the more I agree with him. What do you guys think? Is he truly the best CFL qb ever, or did he heavily benifit from creampuff competition? I wonder what his numbers are against the west only?
