So I've done some light reading on the evidence and listened to the 911 call. Am I right in saying that some people believe that he just killed this kid in cold blood? Like he just walked up and shot him?

This doesn't sound like murder - it sounds like poor judgement from both parties led to a tragic set of circumstances. It didn't even sound like Zimmerman was 100% sure this kid was black until Trayvon started checking him out.

Man, the media needs these things don't they? What would they do without cases like this?

It was in reference to rougeunderoos post. I didn't mean that's what happened in the case we are discussing. It's a saying that gets thrown around a lot.

I am really torn on this. Zimmerman thought someone was suspicious (based on Martin looking at a house that Zimmerman knew was someone else's and Martin quickly looking around) and called the police. I think that was reasonable. I am pretty confident police are called routinely for innocuous behaviour. Zimmerman's perspective was based on knowledge of criminal activity in the area.
Anyway, it appears that Martin circled back and confronted Zimmerman and as a result of something, Zimmerman was forced to shoot Martin.
I don't see that there was a race issue here at all, both people could have been any color for this to occur.

Just the other day, I got a call about "two suspicious cars" that "always meet in front of my house." So I sent out an officer...and it turns out that it's a day shift and a night shift mechanic who are friends who stop there and chat about the day each had at work because it's halfway between their houses and work...
