You gotta give credit to Republicans. To continue to so willingly dig their own graves is admirable, if incredibly moronic. I give fairly good odds this guy turns out to be a secret peter puffer.
Oh yeah, most Virginians now support same-sex marriage, but not most Republicans, so going with the overall unpopular view sounds typically Republican. Congrats on winning the primary I guess.
Quote:
Results from a Quinnipiac University survey released Thursday showed exactly 50% of registered voters in the commonwealth saying they support allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry. Forty-three percent oppose such marriages.
Sharp differences in support persist among different political affiliations – 68% of Democrats support same-sex marriage while 68% of Republicans oppose it. Women, white voters, and those with college degrees are also more likely to say they approve of allowing same sex couples to marry.

You know, my wife and I were considering moving to northern Virginia purely for economic reasons. We got there to scout it and realized it was about as advanced as rural Alberta in the 1970s, despite all the prosperity in the region. We quickly changed our plans. D.C. was cool though.
As for this steaming pile of human garbage: I am hopeful that people will stop voting these tea party extremist candidates in by the next election. Michelle Bachman isn't running again presumably because her support is waning. There will always be some of these politicians in the more backwards areas of the States, but the majority of the country is moving towards a more progressive approach.
The real problem is those areas are insulated and they never travel outside their little bubble. If you are never challenged on your thoughts and opinions you'll never change. There really are 2 Americas, and there is a distinct division between them.

it's like Robin Williams said: "they'll arrest you for sodomy, and throw you in jail with a guy who wants to sodomize you."

If this were to pass, I predict a spike in sales of this T-shirt:

It's just because he's a huge homophobe, but to specifically ban it between men would be too obvious.

Once again, I can't tell the difference between a law from a state in the America's from a ME Islamic country.

You're right. At least the first five of those would have been unconstitutional since 2003. Oral sex was only illegal in 14 states before that, though, so I think the list must just be laws that existed at some point.
Though if #6 is still on the books, it would be an honor to have that on my criminal record. Now I just need to go to Connorsville, WI, buy a gun, and figure out how to give a girl an orgasm.

Or
But, according to the Washington Post, he voted against a 2004 measure to amend the law so it would no longer apply to consenting adults because he said "homosexual acts are wrong."

Well, often one goes hand in hand with the other.
Course not for him! How long will it be before we find him tapping his shoes in a airport bathroom, or with an underage intern?

Nothing against the toe tapping of course, just the hypocrisy of the law makers who say it's evil, then go do it themselves.
Yeah, that was the first time I ever heard of that. Course it makes sense, when you are persecuted for your sexuality, there's all sorts of code to get around it and pick up.
Like that scene in Traffic, were Benico goes to the bar/gay bar and places a cigarette packet with a condom taped to it on the bar.

I don't think Bush has anything to do with it. It's more about the weird laws and morals coming out of America, which generally come out of the southern or 'redneck' states.
'Murica. It's redneck speech.
