Default Are the flames drafting to become to Chicaco Blackhawks?

I was just noticing how many of our prospects project to be Chicaco Blackhawk type core players and was wondering if you guys think that's the type of mould we are heading towards. I'm just throwing this out there cause I thought it would be interesting

Comparisons:

Gaudreau = Kane Lite - A shifty fast winger that is hard to hit that makes ridiculous passes. Will cut and change directions quickly with his edges. Has the ability to lure defenders towards him to make room for other wingers.

Monahan = Toews Lite - Decently skilled centre who can win faceoffs. Plays with heart and soul and smart passes. Always stands in the right areas and can snipe when needed.

Baertschi = Hossa Lite - Very skilled winger who knows how to use his size to move around defenders or make a skilled pass. Has a quick motor and has a snipe for a shot.

If we draft Ekblad next year he could be our Keith and Sieloff can be our Seabrook

Is there any other comparisons towards other team moulds or would this team be the most accurate? Obviously no player is exactly the same and that's not what I am trying to say here.

I'd say it's a fair comparison in terms of playing styles. Odds of them all being as individually successful is pretty low though.

Not at all.

Monahan = Toews Lite?? How so? Toews has second line center offense with excellent intangibles. So does that make Monahan a potential third liner? Hossa was a UFA and a big body. Baertschi is much more a Martin Havlat type winger.

People need to stop with these comparisions.

If they are they're going to fail. The Flames need to become their own team with their own identity. The Flames picked up a few of their players through lucky trades too and signed some key UFA's (like Hossa).

Feaster and co. need to get a game plan and stick to it (seems to be what they're doing so far) and not try to do what any other team has done because every team is different. I'll agree that the hawks are a good example of what teams should strive for but when it comes to drafting, trades and signing players luck has a lot to do with it too.

For those who haven't been paying attention the past few weeks and months, the Flames are drafting for hockey sense and character, and these guys happened to be the guys they felt met what they wanted.

I would hope they are drafting to become the cup champs. What other objective would there be?

I don't like the idea of drafting with a template in mind. It would seem to be limiting to do so.

Flames are drafting to be competitive. Name any playoff team and that is who the Flames are trying to become.

They are drafting to BEAT the Blackhawks.

Gaudreau = Kane +
Monahan = Toews X 2
Baertschi = Hossa + Halvat + swiss chocolate.

Ekblad (if we draft him otherwise he's a bum) = Keith and Seabrook joined together like the robots from the Power Rangers.

For those who are making a big deal because of the comparisons, I wasn't the one to compare them first. I've heard then before and just made a thread about it for just some interesting discussion. People are really getting butthurt cause its there first time hearing the Monahan toews comparison really?

Personally I think you guys are undervaluing our prospects by comparing them to the meager two time Stanley Cup champions Hawks core. Reality is our prospects are probably more like Messier, Anderson and that other guy with the Polish sounding name.
