I am shocked by some of the posters in this thread that are either ignoring evidence from the case or inventing their own. And the 'what would you say if their color was reversed' argument is simply an accusation of racism. Anyone in this thread who made any claim like that should be ashamed.

Florida, the sunshine state, where murder is not illegal.
Seems like juror B37 agrees with me
Quote:
Juror B37 in the George Zimmerman trial called for changes to Florida’s self-defense law, which she said gave jurors no option but to acquit the defendant who shot unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin. The juror said that another juror wanted to find Zimmerman guilty but due to the way the Stand your Ground law is written she could not.
Jeez, what a blowhard that Elder guy is I've never heard someone talk so much and say so little. Dodged almost every single question piers asked him and started talking about irrelevant cases like the Castro dude in Cleveland or some guy in Phoenix. I assume Piers had him on to talk about the trial and he wouldn't even touch it. What was his point? That the black community has significant issues like black on black violence and teenage pregnancy? That treating a group like victims actually hurts them in the long run? Those are all good points but they have NOTHING to do with this case. People are talking about the case because it's in a legal grey area wrt to a controversial law and there are some racial undertones. I happen to find it a very interesting debate. Does Elder want the media to talk about every single death in the USA before they can talk about this case? The issue is about self defense laws and the trial in a vacuum. What happens in Chicago or any other city is really irrelevant.

He's talking about how the media has portrayed this as a huge racial issue when in reality the biggest issues come from black-on-black crime. As for Piers, he seemed more interested in trapping Elder in a "gotcha" moment by getting him to say that Rachel Jeantel is stupid. I'd say more than half of what came out of Piers' mouth was about her and good on Elder for not biting.

So in other words the right verdict was made. Or am I misunderstanding ?
If you consider walking free after murdering an unarmed teenager, the right verdict, then yes. Florida, the get away with murder state, and orange juice
I was hoping it'd be over with the verdict but that was obviously wishful thinking
Um that's a felony, especially with the dead or alive stuff. The athletes and celebrities that contributed better hope that their names are never attached to this.
By offering a bounty and placing the dead or alive label on it they are inciting either a kidnapping or murder.
If Zimmerman is killed because of this stupidity it would at least be an accessory to first degree murder for all parties involved, life in prison.
What are these jacka$$es going to do if he's captured, are they going to lynch him in the streets?
What a bunch of idiots.

Well he's right about the sensationalism but that happens for pretty much every high profile case. And wouldn't you say Elder started the jeantel is stupid stuff with that tweet about her being the pilot of his plane? Pretty ridiculous statement.

I dunno I am sure people can be killed by unarmed people ,all it would take is several bashes against pavement if you didn't do something to stop it from happening.

The poor girl could barely speak proper English. She said the court system is "old school" .......what an idiot. Yeah, the court of public opinion backed up by the circus media should decide the case!

Maybe people who start the events in motion that lead up to that scenario should bear some responsibility. But like I say, why worry when you can get away with murder
There seems to be a lot of perverse Zimmerman cheerleading in this thread. It's one thing to state the law makes him innocent but some appear to be taking pleasure in him being found innocent and demonizing the teenager.

Bolded part, while I agree is unfair, is it any different then those demonizing Zimmerman? We don't know what happened, we don't know what either side was thinking, and we don't know their true characters. Calling Zimmerman a racist vigilante or idiot wannabe cop much different than trying to paint Martin as a thug? It just shows the bias of the person, nothing else.
Here's a Charles Barkley, of all people, interview. He makes some assumptions but I think he hits the nail on the head about media and racism about this case.
The probable gist of the pyschology behind those pictures on his cellphone would be they depict the person Trayvon Martin wanted the world to know him as, just as a few pictures of him in family situations, also on the phone, were also valuable to him.
It's your interpretation the photos below place him in a negative light. His own interpretation of the value of those photos, evidently, was quite different.
So, the real question might be, if Trayvon Martin valued the photos below as mementos of self-exploration, showing him as the person he felt he was, why are YOU spending so much time trying to de-value them?
Are you trying to tell the deceased how he should have thought of himself?

The difference of course is that there's a pretty sound basis for that opinion. Martin was a pretty typical kid for his age by all accounts.

Right, so that explains why when the issue was his build you elected to post 4 photos that didn't have a damned thing to do with that, right?
If you want to talk about the 'psychology of selfies' go for it, but don't try to gloss over the context in which you initially elected to go this route.

The original issue was whether or not Trayvon Martin could have "taken down" George Zimmerman, which even someone as narrowly focussed as yourself would have to admit includes not only physical characteristics but a pyschological willingness/confidence to turn around, initiate and engage.
Again, why are you trying to de-value photo's that Martin himself felt illustrated who he was?
