So the writer just placed pictures of arenas on his wall and then threw darts labelled 1-30. He then proceeded to write anything he knew about the team and bam! there's your list.
What a horrible, horrible list.

Also, up until last year (and I didn't go to a game in the last half of the season, but at least at the beginning of the season) the TVs and other displays showing the game from the concourse were all 1990s tube tvs, and not even the flat screen kind, but the ####ty gigantic plastic case kind.
The presentation of the game at the Saddledome is ok, but once you go to a modern rink, it really shows its age. The "extras" for review purposes should not receive a 5 star rating when done in comparison to other rinks.
|
Yeah, plenty of other rinks have similar type displays, but they're updated and not just whatever was put on the wall 15 years ago. I like the stuff in the Dome, but it could really use an overhaul to bring a little more life to what's there and fill in things that have happened more recently.

Here's another ranking of NHL arenas by a couple of guys who have visited every arena/stadium/ballpark in the big four North American sports.
http://www.thesportsroadtrip.com/nhlfavorites.html
They have the Saddledome ranked up pretty high as well. Granted, I believe they visited back in 2001 or 2002. Good detailed write ups on every experience they had at all the games.

The only thing worse than the "True North" chant is the Flames "C" and "Red" chants during the US anthem. Wish that would just stop.

Funny, he listed some of the arenas I most want to visit near the bottom... like Boston's. He seems to dock a lot of points if the tickets are expensive (he excludes Montreal from this problem) or if he doesn't like the building. He didn't seem to care if the building was actually full of people... which is why Colorado (usually half empty) is right after Calgary.

Im all about being pro flames but food getting 5 stars and extras getting 5 stars is crazy. The dome has the worst food selections of any stadium/arena I have been to and if the pictures on the walls get the dome a 5 I must be missing some pretty plain walls when I visit other arenas.

C'mon, let's give some credit to the "Ole" chant from Montreal, who seem to think this is soccer. Although it is hilarious when they start the chant and the team blows it.

Love the TD Garden. Been to 2 Celtics games and 3 Bruins games. Great atmosphere. Passionate, mouthy but harmless in the end fans. Some great bars just steps away. Station terminal. Hard to believe it is so low on this list.
Also really like Scottrade. Not a huge fan of either the Saddledome (sorry) or Rexall.
Nassau was awful (12 years ago) I don't know if anything has been done since then but I can't imagine it's much better.
Never been to MSG for a sporting event but hard to believe it isn't top 10 or 5 on the list.
Ah well...I can't even tell how they even really ranked them. I have a sneaking suspicion that food, drink and parking prices etc are a major part of it and actually very little of the ranking has much to do with atmosphere and game experience (because let me tell you for both NBA and NHL games the TD Garden crew puts together a great show).

They might have mopped the floors. Might have.

Yeah, agreed. I hate when fans do stuff. My favorite is when fans sits on their hands and don't make any noise.

You can't mop the floors in Nassau. If they get wet, they might disintegrate.

By that logic if everyone sang a Celine Dionne song you'd like it.

The ACC at 26 is an absolute and complete joke. I've only been there for a concert that but venue is really nice, the sightlines are great and they sell out every game.
Sure it's expensive but who cares, I'd pick a leafs game over a coyotes game any day of the week. What a ridiculous list.

Haha, that would be hilarious. Actually if that happened, it would be by far, my favorite moment ever at a hockey game.
