buyer beware! (regarding flood damaged vehicles)
So my brother was looking for a vehicle and found one which seemed nice.
http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ495525162
this vehicle was posted before the floods happened on June 21so his intentions weren't to sell a flood damaged vehicle but after the flood happened there is no way he didn't know his vehicle (which he said he still drives) was flooded. As soon as we opened the door I could smell the water. Put my hand on the carpet and I could feel the water under the carpet. He lives around stanley park and as soon as I knew that I had a feeling it would be a flooded vehicle.
just a heads up to be cautious with buying vehicles in the next little while as people are going to be trying to get rid of their damaged vehicles.

There's going to be plenty of people without comprehensive coverage trying to pawn the problem off on someone else. If you want to be 100% certain, pull the door panel and look for a water line or debris.

picture 2 has a dumpster right behind it (presumably for flood clean up)
The sad part is, there are too many people without "vehicle buying" common sense that will gladly buy these swamped up cars.

Doubt it, from the look of the street/lawns this is preflood. I reckon it was there for other work on a neighbour house, ie: improvements/renos

Ask the mechanic to look when you take it for a mechanical check?

A news report said earlier that you won't be able to register flood damaged vehicles too, so if you buy one and it turns out to be damaged from the floods you may be screwed if you don't check it out before buying it.

In all fairness, how do you know the water in the vehicle was flood water? If the car had been just recently detailed.... ie that day, the carpets may still have been wet from being shampooed. It sometimes takes a couple days for them to fully dry out, and the car will smell a little musty until they do.
Wet carpet, does not automatically = flood vehicle.

Because it was detailed on June 17 or earlier so the water should have been dry and the horrible smell. The amount of water under the carpet was not normal for a detailing.
