Love this signing, Breen played great last season, watching him he always played smart. Doesn't actually play a super intimidating style, just smart hockey, but has the tools to get dirty if it's called for.

PPM raves about Breen. Hope he is given a legit shot at making the big club. Going to be tough with the abundance of 5/6/7 d-men that the flames have. Not sure if a trade was needed, that anybody would want Smith, Russel, or Butler. Then there is Cundari also. Have to think most teams have their own prospects that they would rather try at the 5/6/7 position.

Depends on their foot speed, some of the biggest aren't the most mobile. Chip and chase is probably the best method to beat guys that size.

Looks like they were at the uni or winsport (guessing from a couple years ago) so they probably couldn't run up to the fanattic and grab a large kids

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the joke is that they're wearing the same size jersey...

For those if you that have watched him closely over the years. Is he big and mean or just big? I have seen posts stating both sides.

He's not as mean as the Flames would like.

Hopefully he's able to crack the roster this year.
Apparently he's improved his skating quite a bit, and a guy with his size and toughness would go a long ways to improving our over all team toughness.

I wish.. but you forgot that all of our management has an odd man crush on Butler so he will likely be there.

$1.7M is a lot to park in the press box or minors...

Seen him quite a few times in Abby and for a big guy he can move. I can't recall a single time of him being caught out of position. He's not a guy who's gonna pinch, but he's solid in his own end and makes the opposition pay when they try and enter the zone. One thing I'd like to see him do more of is use his size, I find he let's up once in awhile.

If it was up to me it would be:
Giordano - NHL
Wideman - NHL
Brodie - NHL
SOB - NHL
Cundari - NHL
Breen - NHL
Russel - NHL
Butler - AHL
Wotherspoon - AHL
Smith - AHL
Ramage - AHL
Sieloff - Junior
Does anyone know if Breen or Cundari have to clear waivers to go to the AHL?

Poor Butler. Fans who haven't even seen Breen play for the most part are penciling him ahead of him lol. I'm all for giving these guys a chance but maybe Breen should...um....you know prove his worth against NHL talent first?

We know what Butler is capable, I'd like to at least give Breen a shot to see if he's an improvement over Butler.

So do I. He's hotter in person, and he looks enormous on the ice. Was glad to see this!
