You get badges with them, which as far as I know gives you stuff in game + steam XP

For $2-$4 bucks it seems, depending on the card.

Can somebody brief me on what these trading cards are? How do you trade games for them? Can you trade games you already own?

You earn cards by just playing eligible games. each game has a set to complete, where you can craft a badge by using up the cards. You also get some profile backgrounds and emotes too.
Alternatively you can sell the cards on the market, but don't expect to quit your job or anything, most go for 10 - 20 cents, the foil versions can be maybe 10 times that.
You cannot trade games you own, just unopened gifts. The games I traded were collecting dust for over two years in my steam inventory.

Just checked. I have a Steam card, some Half Life 2 cards and a couple of Portal 2 cards if you are interested.

We should be staging an intervention not giving him more!

Trading cards seem absolutely worthless. I don't care about badges, chat emotes or my Steam level. I've been flipping all my cards onto the market and have made close to $10. I just got a foil that seems to be going for around 5 bucks.

Not sure how to get the link, the list isn't that long.
Half Life 2:
Gordon & Alyx
Trouble Underground
Respite
City 17 Metrocop
Portal 2:
Finale
Underground
Steam:
Reus
You'll have to tell me how to transfer them but you can have them.
Looks like I also have spare copy's of Half Life 2 and HL2 Episode One if anyone wants to trade a game.

Football Manager 2013 is 75% off right now ($9.99 instead of $39.99). It's a great deal if you like those kinds of games.

This really is the ultimate sports sim in my view. I wish someone could pull off a hockey one to this detail.

They used to make a hockey version, but it didn't sell well enough. I heard it's making a comeback this year though, but I might be imagining things.

Franchise Hockey Manager.
Currently in beta, done by the team that makes OOTP (Out of the Park baseball).
Great development team.

I've already put in about 11 hours, and so far simed the first 50 offseason days.
The content is overwhelming. I need to hide from civilization for a year to properly put my time into it.
And huzzah, the Civ V Gold is finally on sale again!

Now that it's back on sale I'll say it again, For $8.74 the Orcs Must Die! Franchise Pack is a no brainer. Many, many hours of orc smashing goodness.

This might be a hint for the leading deal tomorrow:

Looks like Dead Island. I think I'm going to hold off buying anything except maybe Prison Architect. I just don't have the money like I used to.
Worry not, I'm done trading for now, got my summer badge leveled to 5 so I'm taking a break. Now I can finally focus on my work: programming some arduino boards! Time for coffee!

So I decided that I want to finish at least 1 badge, so looking for Lutece Twins card from BioShock Infinite. If anyone has it and wants to trade for any one (or two) of my non-Bioshock cards, let me know.
Steam name is Rathji

I'll play some Infinite tonight and see what I get in terms of drops. I can't believe how easy it is to make decent money off these things.

Prison Arcitect is a fun game but it's still in early Alpha, so it has a lot of bugs and missing features. I've heard that the price will get lower closer to release, so even the sale price might be too high if you don't want to play an unfinished game.
