Gaudreau was the best player on the ice in the first two periods. Jankowski along with his linemates Agostino and Eddy took over the game in the third, though. Janks looked much better today. Very noticeable. Gilles was the most impressive goalie, putting up a wall despite team black tilting the ice a bit in the third.
Monahan, Granlund, Knight, Culkin, Sieloff, Arnold were the other standouts.
I've been particularly impressed by Penner. Looked good in both games. Would not be opposed if they signed him.

Broken nose for Eddy?? Kinda looked that way but I don't know for sure. His nose was leaking pretty badly though.

You have to remember that the reason that Hanowski got such a long look was that the NHL season went about two and a half weeks later into April this year due to the lockout. The NHL season ended on April 10 the year of the last Olympics, so I'd guess it will be somewhere around there again this year. Boston College will hopefully be playing in the NCAA Championship game two days after that, so I don't think we'll be seeing Gaudreau as a Flame before the 2014-15 season.

I was really, really impressed with Elson. That guy has a non-stop motor that leads to him winning battles and his line getting offensive chances from it. He also showed off some skill while going wide on a defenseman and a decent shot beating Gillies low on the stick side on a 2 on 1. He was impressive last scrimmage too.
-Monahan and Gaudreau were a pleasure to watch all game.
-Culkin is another guy who stood out in the scrimmage today, making good passes and being sound defensively.
-Ramage was one of the best D out there today. He broke up several good chances including a 2 on 1 where he disrupted Jankowski and a a goal that he scored.

Based on the two scrimmages.
FORWARDS
Top 5 forwards: - Gaudrau: Unbelievable skill. Dominant second scrimmage.
- Monahan: So smart. Looks NHL ready. I was more impressed with he offense then I thought I would be.
- Granlund: Big surprise. One of the best forwards on the ice. Huge shot.
- Baertschi: Most dominant player in scrimmage one. Poor second scrimmage but I think he got hurt early on a hit by Harrison.
- Jankowski: I struggled with this one. Could have put a bunch of guys. Knight and Agostino were close for example. But I was impressed with Jankowski. Huge growth in skill and size from last season. Looking like he might have a solid future.
Three Disappointments: - Horak: He wasn't bad. But he should have been dominant. Non factor most of both games.
- Klimchuk: We saw flashes. But he struggled overall. (He will be better next year).
- Howse: He had a better scrimmage two but he really need to be noticed to stay on the radar. Generally he wasn't.
Three Surprises: - Ferland: Seems to be much fitter this season. Showing more then toughness. Great hands.
- Elson: Offensive flashes and overall strong play. Looking forward to seeing what he does in the AHL.
- Harrison: Nobody knew who he was. We do now. A pain to play against and all over the ice.
DEFENCE
Top 3 Defense: - Wotherspoon: Steady and quiet. But a rock.
- Culkin: Generally strong camp.
- Ramage: Impressed me second scrimmage.
Top 2 Disappointments: - Roy: I was expecting to notice him. I didn't.
- Martin: Should have been dominant based on his age and pro experience. He wasn't.
Top 3 Surprises: - Kanzig: Faster and better then I expected. Gave some justification to the 3-round selection.
- Sieloff: Feisty, feisty, feisty. Decent D. Great spark plug.
- Gilmour: I had no idea what to expect. Generally he impressed.
GOAL
Top Goalie: - Gilles: He was the most consistent goalie through both scrimmages. Big, fast, technically sound. Made some beauty saves to end the second scrimmage. Brossoit was the runner up.
Worst Goalie: - Ortio: Hoffman probably deserved this, but he was an invite so I went with Ortio. He still had a decent camp but one of the tenders had to 'win' the selection. Berra was the runner up.

Brilliant! Get him to lose his NCAA eligibility so he has no choice but to play for the Flames this season!

question for those who were there over the last few days: what about Matt DeBlouw? Haven't really read anything about him and he was also the only 2012 pick that didn't have an interview with KH on the Flames page yesterday.
thanks for the updates everybody, greatly appreciated!

I thought Horak looked really good in today's scrimmage. Really strong on the puck in the offensive zone, made some good passes. Can't comment on Saturday's game as I didn't see it, but I really liked his game today.

Like his game.
Knows he is getting under the skin of guys, knows he likely isn't making any friends, but knows that he has to play his game and go out there and crush guys anyways.
It wasn't overly evident in the scrimmages but seems to be a little bit of offensive potential in his game as well. Really intrigued to see how his game translates in the NCAA next season.
On a similar note I really hope they use the remainder of camp for mostly off ice team building activities. No need to have these guys head off with grudges against one another.

Well at least we got to see other prospects more in the spotlight?
If Sven wasn't knocked around by Harrison and left the game, he probably would've taken the game over again (esp skating with Granlund). Perhaps will serve as a good lesson for him though. It's gonna be a rough ride being a pro, he's gotta come to expect it and not get too heated, especially in a camp where guys are going to try and make names for themselves and garner some attention. He's basically the prime target.

Nice summary
Also sounds good to me that our most NHL ready guy(s?) aren't the guys dominating this tournament.

Thanks for the updates everyone. So glad we didn't trade Gaudreau for Seguin. Have a very good feeling about him.

I'm confident one combo of:
Knight / Monahan
Knight / Granlund
May play the season for the big team, that is if they don't go out and fill the top 9 with some other vet center before then. I could see the 3 of them being kept up with the team for 9 games, then one sent down. Knight is clearly the most ready for a bottom 6 role, and should take it. But it's' a toss up as to the other two. Monahan would make sense, but it's hard to dismiss Granlund's execution and high IQ, and how much he's developed playing in a league against men. But we will certainly have vacancies to be filled, either way.

It's hard to take anything from a prospect camp, these guys are all drafted or looked at my nhl clubs for a reason, they aren't going to look like you or me out there, even the lesser knowns. That being said, I personally haven't seen as good of a collection of smart players at a Flames camp as I have in the last week. Several players have fantastic potential and it's hard not to be positive about a handful of these guys.
