I don't blame Harrison for trying to make a name for himself, nor do I blame Baertschi for trying to stick up for himself. With that said he clearly got caught up in the heat of the moment, and made a play that is not in line with his character.

Its not nearly as big of an issue as everyone is making it out to be.
Harrison has been blowing people up all camp long. He's been very impressive. Still very raw but impressive.

On the one hand, I like that Sven was pissed, but on the other, I didn't like the cross check to the head area. Should have just hit him hard or wacked him with the stick.

Sven should keep his head up out there, yes it's only a development camp, but I want to see the guys practice hard, just like how Harrison has been doing all camp long. Love guys like that, same with Seiloff. Go hard all the time, especially in practice, cause it carries over to the game.

I hope Sven and Harrison go for a beer after and shake hands. Same with Lewis and Eddy, after that hit from behind.

The only reason I don't like the nickname Johnny Hockey is because its a play on Johnny Football and football Johnny made my Sooners look ridiculous.

Wicked release by Jankowski on the penalty shot. Fast, hard and off the post with authority. Thought he played a good two way game. Seemed to be concentrating on being positionally sound. Had some good chances and his line seemed to play in the offensive zone for long periods of time.

Monahan and Gaudreau play really well together. Best line of the scrimmage by far.

I think Monahan plays a lot like Kopitar more than somebody like Bergeron or Krejci.

Loved the fire. Harrison had a nice hit, and Sven got a penalty for retaliating. That's hockey. No need to rip on Tim for playing his game, and Svens retaliation led to a goal, so hopefully he learned something.

I think people are over reacting on the Sven retaliation as well. If he got hurt and nobody else is standing up then he had to do something. He could have used better judgment then giving a cheap shot. But it is the heat of the moment.

I just think you can't blame Harrison for playing physical hockey. That is what his job is. He isn't getting recognized if he doesn't play that way. He is just doing his job. And it was a perfectly clean hit on Sven.

EDIT: In other words what he said:

After watching this camp I'm excited for some inevitable injuries (hopefully minor) to our veteran guys throughout the year. Should have a good number of kids down on the Heat chomping at the bit waiting for a call up to prove themselves. Just wish we had a few more full time roster spots open.

I like that Granlund played his way into the conversation of making the big club. He's been a favorite of mine since he was drafted. His big brother may have had the big ticket moniker attached to him at the draft, but Markus has quietly gone about his business and is coming from essentially out of nowhere pushing for some recognition. Not sure why they decided to split him and Sven at the beginning of the game.

My first real good look at Monahan today. Really impressed with his awareness and movement. The chemistry is there is Gaudreau which was awesome to watch. He pulled a nice 360 wide legged spin in the corner in the second that opened up the ice that impressed me.

Ramage, Wotherspoon and Seiloff were great today. Even with the missed mega hit that almost killed Poirier by Ramage doesn't change that. Whoever #63 in Black was, he was good as well. Trey Lewis was noticeable in a good way. A couple nicely blocked shots.

The Harrison hit on Sven was big but looked very clean to me. Sven just got planted. His reaction was surprising but I get why he got upset. Still though, those are the kind of hits he sees in the NHL and has to deal with it better.

Harrison really did show why he was picked even though it was from the depths of obscurity. Has the heart and the drive to be a good pro when his time comes.

Jankowski looks good but you can tell this year is going to be very important for his development. I suspect when we see him next summer there is going to be a massive improvement.

Next season we see five or more roster spots open up, many of which can be filled by players coming into the system. This year will be a real tread water type year, and then next season we see a real transition t e new core begin. This will be a tough year to be a Flames fan as there will probably be very little enjoyable hockey or positive things to watch, but next year will be a lot of fun. Lots of losses, but an injection of the good young talent we've been waiting for.

Watching the practice after scrimmage, Knight has a ridiculously good backhand, and Jankowski's wrist shot is deadly. Granlund has some sweet hands as well.

Yeah I'm excited for that too. I hope we move some of those upcoming UFA contracts at the deadline for picks, even if they're late round. Guys like Stempniak, Cammalleri, Stajan. That will give us some roster spots at the end of the season too. It would be nice to see us with 8 or more picks in this upcoming draft. I anticipate we'll have a top 5 pick and that will result in hopefully a NHL ready player. I anticipate we'll be one of the youngest teams in the NHL in 2014 - 2015, hopefully we can surprise some people.

@DarrenHaynes_CP: Johnny Gaudreau just told me he's trying to get to 168-170 pounds by this time next year. He's 158 now, up 15 pounds from last year's camp

@DarrenHaynes_CP: Re: Future, Gaudreau said "Hopefully they want me next year at the end of the year and hopefully I can come in and make an impact for them."

Wotherspoon is just steady. I think he's a darkhorse to make the team but it makes more sense for him to start in the AHL.

On defense our most NHL ready prospects weren't attending this development camp. Those are Cundari and Breen.

Up front I think Horak and Knight have the best chance of cracking the lineup followed by Monahan. Monahan looks like he could be NHL ready pretty quick here. Reinhart I think needs to start in the AHL and get his offensive confidence back. Granlund is an interesting case as he's got an NHL shot, some nice skill but his size is average and his skating isn't going to blow you away. Conroy seemed to think Granlund could compete this year for a spot and he has played two years pro hockey already.

Will guys like Cundari, Breen, Nemisz, Billins be at Penticton?

@DarrenHaynes_CP: Gaudreau says he has no preset plans beyond playing at BC this season with his little bro, who he's tight with, and continuing to bulk up.

I missed the scrimmage broadcast today. I checked Flames website but it is not available for viewing at least not yet. Does anybody know if the scrimmage from today can be viewed at a later time?. Thanks

Sounds like a guy who is planning on turning pro at end of Boston College's season. Hopefully will be in the Flames lineup for the final nine games of the year!

Monahan dominating the face off drill , beat Knight, Jankowski, Horak and Granlund all twice in a row.

Granlund finally beats him.

This was asked about he scrimmage on Saturday. It is pretty huge so it may not be available in its entirety. So unless things change it might be the same. I remember it being tweeted earlier.

That would be amazing. I think that's optimum for Gaudreau. I wouldn't go out there with the size of some these guys, I think Gaudreau has balls of steel to be honest. He's not afraid to go to the corners either. He knows he's ready now, just needs some more muscle on his frame.
