So if they saying "if he didn't have a gun, Martin wouldn't of been killed" can be used the saying "if the punk wasn't kicked out of school in Miami this wouldn't had happened"

Unbelievable logic.

There is a growing backlash against main stream media. The most obvious example is the ongoing criticism against Fox News, and I think they're getting better as a result. Now that same type of criticism is being more regularly lobbed toward the other media outlets, including "the most trusted name in news", CNN. If there was also a circle (b) for bull#### accompanying the circle (c) for copyright in CNN's new stories, I think the public would be better informed.

The media was pretty out of control on this one. The craziest thing was the edited versions of the 911 calls they were playing.
The original NBC versions:
Quote:
"This guy looks like he's up to no good or he's on drugs or something... He's got his hand in his waistband, and he's a black male."
|
Quote:
"This guy looks like he's up to no good. He looks black."
|
What Zimmerman really said:
Quote:
Zimmerman
Hey we've had some break-ins in my neighborhood, and there's a real suspicious guy, uh, it's Retreat View Circle, um, the best address I can give you is 111 Retreat View Circle. This guy looks like he's up to no good, or he's on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking about.
Dispatcher
OK, and this guy is he white, black, or hispanic?
Zimmerman
He looks black.
|
Zimmerman was answering a direct question about race asked by the dispatcher.

I know what I want to say, but I cant put them into words and this was just much easier. (and better argument)

I actually felt the completely opposite about it. It had no good points unless you we're looking for good points that align with your own, and it did it using an unnecessarily large number of words. Was actually really useless and less than anything resembling thought provoking.

Can you be a gun toting threat if the gun is concealed and others don't know you have it?
|
During the Trial they did a recreation of the attack by Martin where the prosecutor was interviewing a police officer (I think) and the prosecutor straddled over the dummy banging its head into the ground and he asked the witness where the gun would have been. The witness replied that it was tucked into Zimmerman's belt or waistline (I'm fuzzy) under neath Martin's left thigh.
So the theory that Zimmerman had pulled the gun out early went out the window. Instead the theory was that the gun only came into play after Zimmerman was pinned to the ground being beaten and he reached down underneath Martin's thigh pulled out the gun and shot.

Watched the Rev. Al Sharpton on Meet the Press this morning. He did not have a direct answer for the opening question "Was this a fair trial?". Started talking about opening a civil rights case. No one mentioned minority on minority violence.

Its funny that the media can do almost everything, the last bastian's for truthful reporting are long dead.
The media with help from Martin's family lawyer and various civil rights groups turned a non color issue into a color issue. That was to me really disgusting.
If you look at Zimmerman's history he's probably the furthest thing from a racist out there. From protesting a police brutality case against a black villian to taking a black girl to his high school prom etc.
To the editing of the 9/11 case which in the real world would get you fired or sued. But the fifth estate is protecting.
I don't know if they were trying to sell papers and advertising, or if they were trying to influence a perspective jury pool, we'll never know. But the whole thing was incredibly slimy.
Look, I'm definitely not on the side of the gun culture in the states I've said that repeatedly. I think both parties (Zimmerman and Martin) were stupid on the night of the shooting.
But a lot of this trial just puts a bad taste in my mouth. From the media, to the prosecutor misconduct, to the internet tough guys and idiots. This trial bought forth the worst of America.
Its shameful.
Even the article that was just posted. Short of anything really relevant and high on the typical shrieking that has infected the internet.
I'm fully onside with the verdict, it was the right verdict executed properly by the jury. Unfortunately though a young man is dead who shouldn't be dead. And another man is now the most hated man in America and is going to have to look over his shoulder for the rest of his life.

I don't see what the basis is for a civil rights case.
Sharpton is going the wrong thing once again. Instead of calming the population, he's doing his bet to inflame it.

Are you nuts? Trying his best to inflame the population with a statement like that? Wow.

Zimmerman is suing NBC. They deserve to be sued horribly. I hope Zimmerman then donates the money, but NBC deserves to go down.

Zimmerman getting millions from NBC and then the Martin family getting those millions from Zimmerman in a wrongful death suit would be closest thing to justice that would be possible at this point.

A civil trial would be interesting the burden of proof is a lot less, but I believe that the defense can introduce things like past behaviors.
