Sieloff & Kulak will get a ton of ice time with Windsor and Vancouver, and then wherever they eventually get traded when their CHL teams are out of playoff contention.
Culkin may be in Abbotsford, but that will be determined by how ready he looks to the Flames brass this week and if what I am reading here says anything he should get an NHL contract and play in the AHL.
Wotherspoon will probably get a shot in the top 4 in Abbotsford along with Ramage and whichever of Cundari, Breen & Smith that don't make the big club (of 2 make it then MacKenzie will see top 4 time too IMO)

Basically. Kipper isn't around anymore, no reason to stick with a whiny favour.

As for recovery it will depend on what the are doing and the intensity but the general rule of thumb is 24-48 hours of rest between lifting or a muscle group and do intense conditioning one day and lighter the next.

There's also been a lot of off-ice "team building" sessions going on as well. They all went to the Chuckwagons a few nights back, there's been some lunches and dinners organized and I believe one of them mentioned going to Banff today for some hiking. So it's a mix of training and some team building. It seems like they are trying harder then in previous years to get the group cohesive from the start.

Since as I won't be working, I'll be there tomorrow taking on posting and update duties, as those who have gone thus far have done a fantastic job. Should get an excellent seat thank to proximity to the arena. Would love to get a chance to chat with Conroy, but not banking on it.

Culkin was born in Dec, 93... does that mean he would be an over-ager this year (and is free to play in the AHL if he signs a pro contract)?
Conversely, Kulak and Sieloff were both born in 94, so that means they are not considered over-agers, and wouldn't be able to go to the AHL this year.
Is this correct?

yes, in order to be AHL eligible for the season, CHL prospects have to turn 20 before December 31. Therefore, Kulak and Sieloff have to go back to junior (unless they sign an ELC and stay with the Flames), but Culkin could play in Abbotsford. Similar to Sven last season.

Each of the 4 D-men were a lot better than TJ Brodie was defensively at the same point in their developments. TJ did take a couple huge steps forward after. If any of the 4 can take similar steps in their progression, we could have an excellent top 4 with what we already have.

So is it sort of like Hell's Kitchen where maybe the losing team doesn't stay behind, but the supposed under performers do and they have to pick up popcorn and peanuts and be on laundry duty, clean washrooms/dressing rooms?
Anyway, not too much can be read into all of this, but am glad they are doing these things. It also helps remove any dichotomy between black and red, which they truly understand.
Any word of how they are mixing things up for next scrimmage?

I really want to see Jankowski step it up next scrimmage. While he seemed to be in the right places and play a decent 200' game, I want to see him more aggressive for the puck and start to create more. I think the coaching staff may have said similar things to him. Hey, he's still growing into that big frame and it's probably not really unnatural to be a bit tentative. But at this pace, he'll get eaten alive at the WJC evaluation. I hope it doesn't hurt his confidence, because he's gonna have to be a lot better there. Mind you, it was just one scrimmage.
I didn't notice him much out there except looking for his number and seeing the little things he does well. Which is good and all, but just wanted to see him create more. Maybe due to the things said, he will. I just mostly had my eye on him. He didn't really disappoint, but he didn't impress either. Just my two cents.

We have to keep in mind that some of these guys are 18, while others are in their 20s.
Jankowski was out against Knight, Horak and Monahan. Horak is 22 and has been playing in the NHL for 2 years. Knight is almost 23. Monahan is the same age as Jankowski and is an elite prospect.
I thought Jankowski played really well and had far more offensive opportunities than the opposition had against him. I thought he stacked up really well against those guys and wasn't out-played by any of them.
What does he have to do, make individual rushes through the whole team? He isn't Johnny Gaudreau. But he is a really good, and smart, player.

I realize that, but I thought in his second camp he would have created a bit more. I wasn't looking for an all star or anything. Mind you, the prospect pool is deeper this year. But weren't the better D prospects on his team? Wotherspoon, Ramage, Seiloff. So yeah he was up against older guys as he has been in colllege, and has a weaker D to cut thru, so what's your point?
I already disclaimed that he is growing into his size and position, I just felt wanting a little more. It is just one scrimmage, so much of this talk is on a small sample size to be held in perspective.

I thought he fit in very well on 960. It'd be a great job for him.

I guess I was trying to cover both TV and Radio by saying Sportsnet. He'd be awesome on the radio.

Just finished watching up all of todays interviews.
First thing you notice, Seiloff is jacked! May not make the big show this year but I'd put money on him showing up on the opening day roster the year after next.
Interesting that almost all players drafted the last two years have ties to at least one other. Its pretty cool that there is a bunch of six degrees of separation going on between a bunch of these guys.
Gillies is a monster. Hoping he progresses more next year and doesn't flat line or regress.
Jankowski is also much bigger than I remember from last year. hope he keeps on truckin.
