Very few players can do this:

Gaudreau is a league below Drouin IMO.

This time last year he was being omitted from more mock drafts than he was listed in the top 10. Can anyone name some other players who significantly raise their stock from late 1st rounder to solid top 5 pick in their draft year?

Seems like there's always a player like Shinkaruk who falls from a top 5 spot entering the year to a mid or late 1st position at the actual draft, but I can't think of many like Drouin who do the inverse.

I strongly disagree. Johnny has just as much talent, if not more.

Jonathon Hubredeau

I think he actually came from "farther" back than Drouin to end up top 3.

Just... wow. I wouldn't be surprised to see Stamkos hit 70 goals with Drouin. Hull 'n Oates reborn except that the trigger man is the Center.

This site had Drouin 22 and Huberdeau 21 in Late August / Early September of the year before their draft.

So yeah the comparison is a good one.

Very. Both have amazing skills but I have zero doubt if Johnny was 4 inches taller and 40-50lbs more on his draft day he probably goes #1.
Just look at the World Juniors and who was better.

Some very slick moves in the video but there's no way he can get away with doing some of that at the NHL level.

In the video he gets away with dangles at the blue line. In a real game situation that kind of action would result in a break away for the opposing team 9 times out of 10.

No doubt he will be a special player though and will put up some big numbers playing alongside Stamkos.

If only Gaudreau were as tall as the legend that has become Johnny Hockey...

He's a great player but I don't see anything that special about those highlights. Great skill but to be expected from a 3rd overall offensive minded player.

This is what I am saying as well. In a real NHL game with real NHl players he wont have the time nor space to do these moves.

Gaudreau and Drouin are actually very close right now, but Gaudreau's more than a year older, so advantage Drouin.

At the WJHC I was 19 one was 18 which makes a big difference and one played on a stacked team the other played for the US. It seems like a poor comparison considering the circumstances.

If Drouin was 4 inches taller and 40-50 lbs. more he is the greatest prospect if all time.
