The guys must have pranked Butler into thinking he had to attend Development Camp and gave him a fake name.

You may or may not have known this, but Horak was apparently wearing 21, not 51 today

Still remember the day we drafted Jankowski they said he was at least 5 years away from the NHL, based on what i'm hearing after day 1 at camp it sounds like he could be ready in 2014-2015.. not bad.

^I am not going to confirm or deny it, but I don't want to say the kid's name. Could be a bad day... could be nerves... no need for word to get out an NHL coach thought he was pretty much garbage.

Okay, so that's who that was. You wouldn't know he was an NHL Vet with 80 games under his belt. He was about the 12 or so best player from the first group (not including the goalies)

I think I'll print out a CP placard and put set it out on one of the tables outside the viewing gallery upstairs tomorrow that way CP'ers can join in the conversation (especially during the break)

These Providence boys seem like all Bff's. Hopefully the Flames are onto something here and this is an emerging program.

That's just a rumour 'malcontent'... unless i hear Cammy ask for a trade I wouldn't really believe Roger Millions tweet a few weeks ago. Don't believe everything the media says.... remember Ward declaring a trade then it turned out he's dead wrong.

Jankowski is still a project.. but two major parts of of that project was seeing if he could add weight to that frame and adjust to the massive jump from High School hockey to American College hockey.
Still a ways to go but man.. he's on track. This time last year he was destined for the USHL but he went right to college and at 18 looked really good. I'm not expecting a "break out" season... hoping for gradual improvements from last season.
Kid has me excited.

Awesome commentary fellas. Thanks for keeping those of us stuck in other countries updated.
I was looking forward mostly to hearing about Gaudreau, Jankowski, Monahan, Agostino & Knight. We have some mega-exciting offensive talents to look forward to. I honestly don't think I've ever witnessed a similarly strong Flames prospect pool. Strongest it's been in 25 years? I'd say so...

AltaGuy has a magnetic personality and exudes positive energy, which is infectious to those around him. He has an unparalleled ability to communicate with people, whether he is speaking to a room of three or an arena of 30,000.

Was there in the afternoon -
That Jooris kid had some hustle and impressed me. Decent sized player and can skate.
Agostino was by far the most impressive player to me. Clearly has superior leg strength to most of the prospects as he was powering through and around them every chance he had in the 'down low' drills. Looks like a solid NHLer.
Jankowski still looked raw. Excellent release and hands, but his lateral movement and acceleration will need some time.

Just plan it for 2014, if it doesn't work out we'll use it later.

Agostino, not Gaudreau, is the player I worry about signing. He's just won the national championship with Yale, which is unlikely to be repeated, and he's decided to go back for his senior year. His father is reportedly heavily involved in his son's business & advised him not to turn pro this year.
Agostino was a stand-out in the Frozen Four. Always 2 steps ahead of the play, hard on the forecheck & a good speedy skater. At the time he reminded me of Glenncross, but with much better hockey sense.
I hope he gets locked down!

If I remember correctly, the biggest knock last year on Ferland was conditioning. It sounds as though he has learned that lesson, from all accounts.

There was at least 10 players there today that you know will be NHLers at some point. That's a vast improvement on years past.
Baertschi
Gaudreau
Jankowski
Klimchuk
Monahan
Knight
Berra
Gillies
Reinhart
Horak
There are more that have shown enough to get a look at some point. Just unusual to see that much depth
