They're doing puck drills right now, also they did give out roster sheets.

Though they have Gaudreau as #60 when he's #53, the rest look right though.

Klimchuk is #52, Monahan #23.

Between development camp and the Jays playing a morning game my work productivity is doomed.

The goalies have joined now. Berra (40), Gillies (82), and Hoffman (70).

Knight looks good out there, hard to really get much of an impression from these drills though. He and Harrison seem to have a similar style.

Ken King asked Conroy about Trey Lewis, the defenceman we invited from Halifax. Tough kid and hard-working apparently.

Conroy was raving about Ferland's shot.

I hear his right hook is pretty good too.

Berra is a wall, made 3 desperation saves in a row. Has only been beat low blocker according to Conroy.

Edit: Jesus he did it again with a glove save. Got a big reaction.

5 mins of watching Berra and he made some ridiculous good saves on the 2 on 0 drill including a highlight reel glove save

Any of the folks scouting these sessions on twitter? Would be easier than refreshing my damn BB browser while I am away from my desk for the next few hours

Interesting. I was thinking he should take 21 this year. I believe he wore 20 in Abbotsford, junior and internationally, but that's not available and he definitely deserves an "NHL" number this year.

Monahan just picked the corner with a no looker. Conroy immediately turned to ask those around him if they saw that shot.

Knight looks the most NHL ready from my very limited point of view. Again, only drills so who knows. Monahan is in there too (not counting Horak obviously).

Tough to gain a ton at these skills development sessions, but first observation: Gaudreau looks noticeably bigger and thicker. #Flames

Is Horak standing way above these guys? You'd expect he would. Good to hear about Berra -- though he damn well better be stoning a bunch of kids!

Figure this is as relevant a place as any. I've got a buddy who used to live in Calgary but now lives out in New Jersey... he's got his kids in hockey and last year his team was coached by none other than Johnny Gaudreau's father.

I basically wrote him and said "give me inside info, he's not going to Tim Erixon us is he? There's an entire forum on the internet of grown men who want to know".

After he told me I need a hobby or two he said this:

Quote:
I haven't heard anything about him holding out and not playing for Calgary though, his dad mentioned that he really liked the city. He is a super nice mild kid though, I find it hard to believe he would be screwing over NHL teams, demanding trade, etc.

His dad coached my sons summer team this year, Johnny came on the bench with him for a few games. I have also seen him all over the rink, he plays in mens leagues (thank goodness not mine) and just destroys the other team by himself!

This one kid on the summer team got really injured in a game (had to have emergency surgery on his skull). Johnny took it upon himslef to give him a stick signed by the entire Boston College team, then took the kid after he got out of the hospital to a movie and dinner.
Seems like a pretty damn good kid who was brought up well.
