Can any of you regular Hitmen watchers comment on Pavlo Padakin? Strictly looking at his stats, he looks like he could be a very interesting player. Already NHL size too.

P.S. I know someone on this forum usually goes to the development camp to record the scrimmage(s). I'm very sorry I forgot who does this, but is anyone going to do this again? I really look forward to that video every year. I know, I'm lame haha.

Wow. Reading that list there's at least 15 prospects I'm excited about. Seems like not too long ago that Mitch Wahl, Matt Pelech, and Greg Nemisz were some of the most exciting names in camp. I'm pretty happy w/ the prospect pool the Flames have. Obviously, it could still be better, but its come a long way.

Possible Flames line-up in 5 years if prospects progress as hoped?

Forwards
Baertschi Jankowski Poirier
Gaudreau Monahan Backlund
Klimchuk Knight Horak
Agostino Reinhart Granlund
Ferland

Defense
Wotherspoon Brodie
Cundari Roy
Sieloff Ramage

Goaltending
Gillies
Brossoit

Forward and Goaltending group have great potential. The defense could use a good dose of Ekblad.

Our forward group has potential but no real upper end tallent. We need to find a way to get that #1 center. McDavid would really help this group out....

Padakin: Fan fave, hits, scores and is exciting to watch. An energy player with nice skills for WHL level. Not sure he will ever make the NHL but I'm sure a lot of Hitmen fans are hoping he does, he's hard not to like.

I'm intrigued with Austin Carroll, the kid put up only 11 points two years ago in the bchl but put up 20 points last year in his first whl season then followed that up with 42 points. Kid shows good improvement year over year and the best part is he's a big grinder and can fight, the points are just a bonus.

I know it's safe to temper expectations of the the ones we have now but Monahan, Gaudreau, Jankowski and Poirier have higher end talent. But the bigger question is, is how will all that talent that makes them high end prospects transfer over to the NHL.

Crazy the depth of skill prospects we now have, compared to a few years ago.

Baertschi
Gaudreau
Jankowski
Monahan
Poirier
Klimchuk

Awesome.

I think at this point Monahan may be our best center though. That's nothing to be ashamed of as I feel he'd be a few teams best center. I just don't think he's a top 10 center in this league kind of prospect (hope I'm wrong). I think these next 2-3 years we should focus our sights on getting one.

To be honest, I think Monahan has a higher ceiling than Seguin does... I'm just pumped about our prospects right now!

Amazing what three 1st rounders should/will do for us.

I'm not even close to being the utmost Jankowski expert... but man he's got some skill.

Jonothan Toews.

Monahan does it all.

100% agree with Toews and Monahan comparisson. I'm pretty pumped about that, Now if things turn out "right" we could end up with McDavid and Monahan, that would be pretty great!

30 teams and only 10 of them have a top #1 center?. this is the most over used "wants" in hockey.

Who exactly are the top 10 centers in the league? Is Toews a top 10 because his team won twice in the last few years, what about H Sedin who can't do squat in the playoffs but scores a tonne in the regular season. Top 10 centers are the flavor of the season, I'll be happy just to be able to call a player a #1 on the Flames.

Where does he say only 10 have a #1C???

He simply said Monahan doesn't have Top 10 C potential.

Pavlo obviously very defensively advanced as well.

I should be at every single session of every day of camp. If you want to say "howdy," I should be wearing a CJSW jacket for most days of the session. Maybe a Mets hat, as well.

I've never been to the scrimmage before, what is it like, would it be worth going? Are the guys pretty focused or is it more like shinny?
