Flames eras - name them all
As an European guy and a big Flames fan, I've always wandered how the calgarians define eras of their beloved hockey team.
From the information I've been able to find, here's how I'd describe them ...
1980 - 1985: awakening era
1986 - 1991: promised land era
1992 - 1995: fading guns era
1996 - 2002: dark Domenichelli era
2003 - 2009: Kipper, Reggie, Iggy and dirty Sutters' buttons era
2010 - ? : the era of Chris Buttersoftler
any other ideas ?

1980 - 1985: Awakening (I really like that name)
1986 - 1991: Golden Age
1992 - 1995: Fall from Grace (AKA Fletcherless)
1996 - 2002: "Young Guns" Dark Ages
2003 - 2006: Resurgence
2007 - 2012: Spinning Wheels
2013 - ? : Rebuild
I think the only difference is how we've split the last 5 years. I think the Flames just finally gave up on trying to make the playoffs.

1985-86 and 2003-04 wasn't futility or sucking. Beat the Oilers and made it to the finals in 1986 and then in 2004 beat the Canucks and made it to the finals.
