I'd say Grabovski is probably the best unsigned hockey player in the world right now.

Thats always a good start.

I don't want the Flames to go "Full Oiler". Any chance you get to acquire top-notch players to slot in with the kids, you should take it.

Here is a link to the speculation regarding Hainsey. It's old but it makes you wonder.

Like Sam Reinhart or Aaron Ekblad, you mean?

I like both of those guys better than a few years of Grabovski.

So you would prefer the team tank, than go out and play an honest game and try to win? Your an oiler.

Do those things have to be mutually exclusive?

If you think any of Feaster's moves can be judged by how the team does in 2013-14, you're a fool...whereas that's not as bad as being an Oiler, it's undesirable none-the-less

Grabovski's name ends in the correct syllable. He'd be a great signing, but I fear the lure of giant KHL $$$ would blow us out of the water. I'd still offer him roughly the contract that Stajan was given, minus the NMC. Doubt he'd bite if he were offered so little.

I'd love Penner on the Flames. Sure he might be inconsistent but he brings his game in the playoffs.

OK maybe I should rethink that but I'd still like him on this team.

I want Jay to somehow deal C.Butler and M.Stajan to then acquire J.Blum and sign P.Mueller.

Come on Feaster please make it happen.

I'm surprised a few of these guys haven't signed. I know teams have to look at the financial aspect and fit them under the cap but guys like Mason Raymond, Damien Brunner, etc are guys I expected would have signed already. Interested to see where Ryan Whitney signs as well.

I don't get the desire to sign Mueller. Sure he has size and plays RW, which is a position the Flames need help at, but the guy is injury prone and hasn't scored 20 goals since his rookie season.

Management has to make hard decisions. Overpaying Grabovski is a short-term solution that won't be good enough to make the team a contender. Grabovski would literally do nothing more than help this team fight for 26th instead of 29th or 30th. He also has work ethic issues and doesn't exactly seem like a team-guy with his recent outburst against Carlyle.

I'm sorry, but I would not sign Grabovski at this stage. I was on board with going after Lecavalier - but not Grabovski.

Feaster has acquired players this summer that will help build the foundation for a team identity that we have longed for. Yes, we won't be very good - but while building this foundation for a team identity, he is also acquiring and drafting players that will be brought up in that mold and will help us compete going forward.

He's building a team, and he's being patient. No shortcuts, no bull!@#$. I'm happy about it.

3 days on the market..... When do these players go Hannan and sign 1 year deals for 1M?

There are fewer teams with roster spots and any cap space to spend.

At 1M for 1 year for Morrow he could be an Owen Nolan kind of guy to teach the young ones what it takes to win or is he just done and done?

Id rather they not spend to the cap and put the money towards the new arena than sign a guy like grabovski.

While i agree that we should not sign Grabovski this year, make no mistake the flames will overpay for a center next year. The flames are not going to throw Monahan, Reinhart, Knight and Jankowksi ( when he is ready) out to the wolves. They are going to want a veteran center to show them the ropes. I don't think Feaster see's Stajan in that role and i think the odds of him being re-signed are slim. I guess there is Backlund, but he would have to take a huge step forward this year for the flames to believe he could be the veteran center leader. Quite honestly, if 2 out of the 4 young centers listed above progress the way the flames think they should, i doubt we will see Backlund on this team in 2-3 years.

Work ethic issues? First I've heard about that. If anything I've been hearing but the complete opposite how he's going to be the guy who will constantly work his butt off.

As for his outburst against Carlyle, I can't entirely blame him for what he said. He's a top 6 player who's meant to put up points. How he said it is a different thing though but at the end of the day, to me that can also be seen as passion about his job.

Grabo would be a ideal player for the flames to get, ask him if he would take a short term and give him topsix mins so he can earn that big contract

Would not mind Grabovski, Brunner or Mueller.

After having a good Stajan should be move-able.
Heck Horcoff was move-able.

Stajan's NTC may be playing a role. It is nice we only have 5 players with NTC's now though, and one (Cammy) apparently wants out.
