There is no board.

Disagree. Please provide evidence, from Chiarelli.

He's right, there is no board

Scouts have said many times that Central scouting tends to be more for fans than for scouts - every team has their own list and many teams don't even end up reading the CSS lists, and when they do its purely for cross-check reasons.

They only way you would know what the consensus "board" is, is if you had all 30 teams lists in front of you. We have zero.

Therefore other scouts or people in the biz can laugh at a pick and say it's "off the board" but as fans we can't.

Because there is no board.

If there is a board, where is it? Is it a secret? Kind of like the hockey version of the steroids list I guess.

Well, the good news is that he is not a Flyer, and Oiler or a Canuck.

But other than that, cannot cheer for the Bruins with either Marchand or Lucic on that team.

Best of luck Iggy, but hope you win a cup with some one else.

talk about perfect timing....

a little background - a friend of mine is really tight with recchi and when the bruins beat the canucks a couple years back we sent a bunch of jersey numbers to get signed. they've been sitting in my office just waiting to get done up. this last week mellowed out a little at work so i started working on all the kits that i got signatures for. as i was going thru the jerseys, i noticed i had an extra white bruins jersey. talked with some friends and quickly agreed that i should do Ference on it since his ties to the flames. then this morning Ference went and did the unthinkable so i could no longer do his name/number on my extra jersey. then this afternoon iggy signs with the b's.... perfect!! Ference was 21... well that's easy... 12!! just had to make a few more letters for the namebar and the kit is ready!!!

Dang didn't see this one coming, really thought he'd end up in LA... or even St. Louis as a dark horse, but Boston? Wow.

Makes sense really, after going head to head with them in the eastern finals and seeing what they're made of, but still surprising.

I'm really curious what Iginla was looking for in this deal- I honestly believe his intentions are to float around for a couple years and then finish a year or two as a Flame after we have already gone through the worst of the growing pains. At that point, he will probably only be looking for a couple mill anyway and we will have moved on from the expectation of him being the leader. He can come in like Smyth and just enjoy the last couple years.

I'm a little surprised by the news. Earlier this afternoon I was listening to HNiC on SXM. They stated that not a word has been mentioned about Igina and that most teams wouldn't want anything to do with him. I'm paraphrasing here but the gist of it was "he is really tough to coach" "former coaches resent him" "Flames dressing room was a mess, or, lots of drama in Flames dressing room". I was surprised cause I have never heard journalists talk this way about him before.

I think people in Calgary started getting this bad feeling that maybe our best guy was the problem. I remember thinking a few years ago that we changed coaches, gms, all the core players and the only constant was Iginla.
I know he is suspposed to be a great guy, and I believe he is in general, but it seems he might be hard to coach and he might have been part of the 'problem' in the past years when Calgary was supposed to be a good team. Seems counter intuitive since he was always the best player and was one of those unsettling thoughts that you push away and hope isn't true.
To be honest i thought it would be much more painful to have him go.

Well, if anyone is looking for jerk of the year, we have a new entry.

Iginla played for the Penguins, they have a jersey commemorating when he did that, knowing it was a short term thing. Buying a jersey is about being a fan, it isn't about resale value, they aren't buying it hoping to flip it later on at a higher price, it's not real estate.

I used to be a huge jersey nut but I haven't been in a while... it's still cool to see rare jerseys that people got. A St. Louis Blues Gretzky. I love seeing an Iginla #24 jersey from his first couple of seasons.

All jerseys go out of style at some point, but the longer they have these the cooler they become.

They aren't poor suckers, they have a piece of hockey memorabilia that represents when one of their favorite players played for a certain team. Now they'll add a Bruins jersey to that collection potentially.

Suckers!
