I would have given him that I think, granted I am a big fan who thinks there is untapped potential there.
Gives them a good second line center, who can also play the wing.

Good fit again. that's the one thing so far today I have noticed is that no one is really signing people for the sake of signing them. I like most of the moves that have been done so far today.

1) If Lecavalier gets hurt they might not be able to buy him out next year and then would lose the ability to use a compliance buyout on him
2) Even with this signing, the buyout has given the Lightning $2.7M in cap space to work with.
3) Its not like Lecavalier led them on to great things last season... Unless he was in charge of the tank job, in which case he was epic.
