Neither do I. But this is a gritty tough looking team and I will enjoy it until I decide otherwise.

Haha I'm just messing around. I'm pretty optimistic about the team myself. More interested to see if any kids break out of nowhere.

So if McGrattan went back into the draft, what round do you think he'd go in?

This is excellent news.
He is the kind of guy that team-mates love. And of course, he makes everyone 2 inches taller.
We aren't going to win the cup this year, but at least we can ice a team that works hard and takes care of the young'uns

McGrattan can actually play and won't hurt you like most tough guys, Jackman needs a new home.

With a young team, having a guy who's overcome some off ice issues could be pretty valuable. Lots of these guys will be seeing big dollars for the first time. Good move to keep him around for a couple more years.

I remember posting this a long time ago in another thread about him. This is taken directly from his Wiki page. How could you not love this guy and cheer for him?
Very happy to have him around our young guys!

Personal life[edit]
McGrattan struggled with alcohol abuse early in his career, voluntarily entering the NHL's substance abuse treatment program in December 2008.[16] He worked through the program, and by the time of his second tenure with the Flames in 2013, had been sober for over four years and become a mentor and friend to former Nashville teammate Jordin Tootoo in his own efforts to overcome similar addictions.[17] McGrattan's experiences led to a desire to help others; he partnered with the NHL substance abuse program to act as a mentor for others who wanted the advice of a fellow player,[16] and plans to spend his off-seasons earning a university degree in addiction counselling.[17]

I was pretty indifferent to him the first time around but last year he was fantastic. He knows exactly what to do and isn't afraid to do it.

McGrattan will lay the big hits, score a Gordie Howe Hattie, and fight the 250lb enforcer. No big deal.
But trying to have a reasonable conversation with a 21 year old pro hockey kid about responsible alcohol use? That takes some fortitude. I'd rather fight Colton Orr.

This pleases me. Any guy who smashes faces and is great with his team mates is A OK in my books anyday. Great to have him for another 2 years.

Not at all. I really liked what he brought last year, but McGrattan hasn't played 34 games in the NHL since he the 2009-2010 season when he was a member of the Calgary Flames the first time. The odds are McGrattan IS going to be a healthy scratch for majority of the games and he is likely to spend some time in the AHL.

Hmmm, I hear Tootoo is on the block in Detroit, I'd rather have him than Raymond, and it'd probably be good for him and McGratton. flames could use a Tootoo type.

Extremely unlikely that he plays a single game in the AHL.
He will be a healthy scratch 'x' amount of time, otherwise he will suit up for the Flames. Hartley likes his tough guys too.

McGrattan. With 2 'A's. Must be meta-trolling and I've been suckered... but it's driving me nuts
Very happy to see the guy back, and I kind of agree with the earlier comment regarding McGrattan being a good influence on kids suddenly finding they have a lot of extra money to spend.
