What SebC said. lol

Yes if you look closely there's a crane next to Arriva which would be the Guardian, not to mention the other projects in that area that are getting started.
So depending on your definition of several, sure, I guess you could nitpick.

I guess I'm probably in the minority, but I think how it tapers off as it goes upwards is kind of ugly. Don't get me wrong, I love modern architecture, but this tower's not doing it for me. Ah well, at least it's different than other buildings downtown, and it's decently tall, so that's good to see at least.

Highly doubt it, probably just a generic tram included in the program they were using.

Oh, yeah that is just a somewhat current photo of the skyline with Sky rendered into it.

Its too bad (but makes sense financially) that all the residential units are going to be rentals and not available for purchase!

Rental only? That's kind of odd - how did LeGermain sell? Downtown Calgary can definately use some high end rental units for all the travelling execs and consultants but I'm not sure it's 300+ units worth of need.

Speaking of Le Germain, I wonder if the people who bought in there feel a bit envious now.
I also question exactly how high-end these rental units will be. They might have pretty small balconies and floorplans.

This is right up there with Dion's "She does nothing for me" in the Angelina Jolie thread. Sure, it may do nothing for you, but that's not the building's fault, you're just weird.

Agreed. They have all the cash they need at very low rates, if not using cash on hand, to build this thing. In that context, it makes a lot of sense, they'll make a pile of money for years to come as those unique units appreciate in value and desirability.
There is nothing in Calgary like it, and I can already see all those oil dollars soaking up the vacancy.
Watch as others follow this model just like everyone built twin towers in Calgary for 30 years. A new paradigm is coming.
Even hearing that you can't buy a unit makes me want one more.

More mixed use in the CBD is great, but a lot of key residential amenities will have to show up to make it truly worthwhile.

The big one is a proper grocer in the core, best bet there is the Loblaw's site in the East Village.

I thought Brookfield Place was supposed to overtake The Bow at 247m. (source: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...velopment.html) Or did something change?
Either way, beautiful tower.

I think there were similar concerns for Eighth Ave Place, ended up not being too bad. They really don't end up as pristine as they look in the renderings.

Ha ha, fair enough. Like I said, I'm sure I'm in the minority. Maybe it'll look better to me in real life.

The Bow looks better in real life than it did in renders. So it will.
