If Stajan and Grabovski only had 48 game careers, then you might have a point.

For the record, I would rather Feaster stay AWAY from both Grabovski and Bozak.
However, I may be in the minority but if Feaster does sign one, I would rather it be Grabovski over Bozak. Stats don't tell the whole picture. For whatever reason, Grabovski essentially got buried last year (kind of like how Stajan was for us the year before) so I don't think he is as bad as last year would indicate.
Bozak on the other hand, has been riding Kessel's coat-tails for the last few years. If you look at advanced metric and stats, most of Bozak's production comes from Kessel but most of Kessel's production comes from everyone else but Bozak.
That is a huge red flag. If Bozak were to sign in Calgary, I suspect his production would completely plummet because there is no one on our roster that is the calibre Kessel is on the Leafs. I think its a moot point anyways, because Bozak will probably stay in Toronto (the Leafs have to keep Kessel happy).

Yeah, Grabovski got put with crap linemates. Unlike Stajan the year before he then got all the crappy assignments (as far as offense goes) 64% of his faceoffs outside the neutral zone were in the own zone. Hard to score when the coach places 200 feet between you and the net.
Grabovski is better then Stajan IMO.

Grabovski no and no, especially for what he thinks he is worth. I loved how the Bruins roughed him up in the 1st round.

Completely agree, that's why IF the Flames go after a center, I would go bargain hunting for Grabovski rather than someone like Bozak, or even Weiss/Flippula (would cost way too much cap and term).
I would much rather they target an actual top 4 defenseman.

I dunno... I have a lot of time for Weiss. But I'd take Grabovski over Bozak for sure (depending of course on price and term both of which I would assume to be less then Bozak).
I'm not sure there are any T4 d-men to be had. I'd make a call on Ference who's probably the closest (and would continue the "local guy" theme).
I think the Flames could do worse then to go for a agitating local boy theme in the gap years between now and the next Flames team. Better then being sold on hope and then watching the hope struggle and get really expensive before ever accomplishing anything. I don't care about what it says on birth certificates but the terrible teams to come will need some theme to sell to fans.

Assuming you really wanted him, ask leafs for permission to talk to him first.
Get him to agree in principle to your deal or else you're going to pick him up off waivers.
Esssentially he'd be screwed out of the entire contract you're offering him if you then went and picked him up on waivers.
Not sure if you could pull it off though - or he could agree but just not sign with you after the buyout.

I am fine with the player. But with Backlund, Horak, Stajan, Monahan, Knight etc the position is filling up. Seems a bit like a win now approach given the players in the system.
But it is defensible for the right cap and term.

Toronto is making room to sign Weiss apparently. Or so the rumors go.

That's a really good point- isn't that true ? so really he would only cost 2.75 right
Edit: A team would only pick up half the player's salary if placed on re-entry waivers. Re-entry waivers were eliminated in the new 2013 CBA so any team that would claim Grabo right now would be responsible for his full remaining salary.

He was 3/4 in Toronto.. and would be 3/4 here.
Any team where he draws in as #2 centre is in serious trouble....... Like the Leafs were when he was a top 2 centre.

And after an awful lot of hard work, and determination, ricardodw becomes the 3rd poster to be placed on BACKCHECK!!!'s prestigious ignore list. This also makes him the only active poster on said list.

Grabovski is better than Bozak end of story.
Still wouldn't want either.

Just got off the phone with Grabovski: "Of course I feel [expletive] sad, I played [expletive] five years here."
Jonas Siegel@jonasTSN105013m
Grabovski had some pretty blistering remarks toward Leafs coach Randy Carlyle. Called him a "stupid coach" among other things.

Every Leafs fan I've spoken to agrees.
Edit: Although, I have difficulty imagining a Russian-speaker saying this without "blyat" peppered liberally throughout.

Carlyle's not a bad coach. He's just hard on his players apparently. Grabovski needs a guy like Hartley IMO. He's good but was misused in T.O last year. Right or wrong he shouldn't be a checking line center.

I cant believe there are people here who encourage the signing of Grabovski. Feaster will stay away because he is not completely delusional.....or is he??
