Maybe so as not to derail any further, I should venture to say that the Rangers under AV might be the best fit for Iginla. I'm not sure that he would excel on the Kings, despite his history with Darrel.
It will be interesting to see where he goes and what the contract looks like. I expect we won't have to wait long to find out.

With today's trade I think Dallas could be a serious player for Iggy's services

Isn't Iginla also a co-owner of the Blazers with the owner of the Stars? Gaglardi?

I don't think this move is enough to elevate the Stars from missing the playoffs to a cup contender. It might be enough to push them into an underdog playoff position but Iginla needs to sign on with a contender.
I would be curious to see if the Bruins now are in the picture with their newly found cap space.

Dallas signed Gonchar, traded for Seguin, and drafted Nickuskin. They also have young players ready to take the next step. As much as Iggy wants to win he is unlikely going to sign in a place for really cheap. I doubt the Bruins go after Jarome after refusing to waive to play there. Dallas might offer him 3 years $5M per. Not many teams will offer that kind of term or cap hit. Vancouver, LA, NY, or Pitt can't offer that kind of money.

some hack from the Vancouver Sun is reporting that the Canucks are out of the running...not enough cash
from TSN:
"Brad Ziemer of The Vancouver Sun writes that Keith Ballard's compliance buyout gives the Canucks almost $7.5 million of cap space, but they still have to fill out seven spots on their 23-man roster.
Ziemer adds that defenceman Chris Tanev, a restricted free agent, could more than double last season's $900,000 salary. That, along with getting Dale Weise locked up leaves the Canucks with about $5 million on five players.
As a result, Ziemer writes that they're not expected to pitch for names like Jarome Iginla, David Clarkson, Ryane Clowe and Nathan Horton."

Currently in a tent, camping, with my daughter projectile vomiting every 1/2 hour.
I'll take this hell any day over seeing Iggy in a Canucks uni.
