Default Draft picks #'s

Any idea what number(s) some of our newest picks are going to be. A friend and I both won a jersey at the STH draft party. I would like Monahan, who currently uses 20. My friend would like Klimchuk, but I'm sure his number would be tougher to nail down. I suggested Mono change his # to 67 on twitter. He never agreed

Thanks!

Klimchuk likely will get his preferred 18, Stajan will be gone by the time he gets into the lineup.

New kids don't generally get their choice of numbers when it comes to the Flames.

Brodie had to earn a roster spot before he got to choose #7 when before he wore #66.

Just curious but why 67? You hate the Leafs that much? They're going to have camp numbers (40-70 IIRC) which they'll change to a regular number once they make the Flames full time

I think Glencross and his NMC have #20 locked up for awhile. Patience is a virtue as Monahan and Klimchuk's long term numbers might not be decided for a couple seasons.

Monahan played junior on the Ottawa 67's.

Dev Camp Numbers for recent picks:

Jankowski - 77
Sieloff - 42 [since taken by Cundari]
Gillies - 82
Kulak - 36
Culkin - 67
Gordon - 50
Deblouw - 43

Baertschi - 47
Wotherspoon - 56
Granlund - 60
Gaudreau - 53
Brossoit - 1

Wait a week. Dev camp roster numbers are USUALLY kept for awhile, barring another player snagging the number when they're acquired mid-season.

Give Monahan #12.

No pressure.

Does Baertschi stick with 47 or does he change his number at the start of the next season and/or after this upcoming season, or whenever he has been established?

He said he wasn't going to change his # because he didn't want to do that to the fans who bought his jersey.

Last year, he said he had the option to change his number but decided not to because he saw so many people had already bought ones with 47 and he didn't want to change it on him. I'll see if I can find the link.

Here it is:

Quote:
Baertschi had five games in No. 47 last season, but he’s decided not to change to a lower number.
Numbers aren’t that important to him — although he would probably take 27 if it were available — and he’s already seen fans around town wearing No. 47 Flames jerseys.
“I don’t want to throw somebody under the bus if they’ve bought it,” Baertschi added. “There were a bunch of my jerseys sold last year.
“They paid for it. I like it, so I’m going to keep it.”
Good kid!

If Iggy signs with the Canucks, give Monahan #12 for sure.

If he signs with the Canucks they should bring Anders Eriksson out of retirement, sign him to a 1 day contract, give him the #12, then retire Anders Eriksson's #12
