No chance he does that this year, have to believe he wants a chance to play for the Olympics. Now if things go south this year in Vancouver, and they still won't buy him out next year, then maybe he retires.
Will not be surprised next summer if Gillis is fired, Luongo is bought out, and Vancouver is left without a starting goaltender.

He may want to play for Canada at the Olympics, but I can't see him being asked to do so.
He may get an invite to the try outs in the summer, but there are better Canadian options that a bitter Bobby-Lou.

All I know is whatever happens it's gonna be enjoyable to watch as a Flames fan. No good can come of this and the move of Schneider to the Devils was the beginning of the end of this good little run the Canucks have had in the last 4 years.

the luongo situation ends when he announces his retirement, otherwise the circus rolls on.

I dunno, I think that's debatable. Who would be a better option? Crawford? Price? Other than these two, I don't see anyone on par with Bobby Lu. And I still think its a toss up between the three on who is better. Kind of sad, the state of Canadian goalies.

Luongo will be part of Team Canada for sure. Whether he will be the starter, backup or 3rd string remains to be seen.

Something tells me Brodeur will be in that mix, as well as Mike Smith and yes....Fleury. Why the hell does the US have all the good goalies ? WTF ?

With all that seems to be happening in Vancouver, I guess its really Colorado's division to try to steal.
That being said, I did a 180 on Lu this year, based solely on how he has handled this mess. So I hope that things turn out right for him. Would like to see him play for another team and show that he still has it in him.
If he must play for the Canucks again, well....I hope he loses every game. But that they are 1-0 scores and the blame doesn't rest at his skates.

How does the Canucks/Luongo saga end?
Badly for Canuck fans. Great for the Western Conference.

Worse for the Canucks is that they no longer play in a crappy division where they can just show up and win the division and home ice. The California teams will grind them and they are going to need good goaltending to compete with those teams for the division.

Vancouver is trying to become the oldest roster in the NHL? Signing Iggy will cement them as the new flames and the slow spiral to a long rebuild.

A toss up for who's better amongst those 3? It's Crawford for sure. Throw in the fact that Crawford, Ward, Fleury, and Brodeur are all better than Loserongo. Those 4 guys have one thing in common, a Stanley Cup ring. With the exception of Crawford, they also know how to win a game 7 for the cup. These are things 7uongo doesn't have or can't do and should be banned from the Olympic team. The guy should give back his 2010 medal.

That would be funny, because then they wouldn't have any goalies left.

Oh c'mon. Give back his medal?
Luongo is better than Fleury. Consistently.
Brodeur is close to retiring. He didn't look great himself in 2010.
Anderson and Crawford should be given a hard look.
If Luongo continues his play as he has the past few seasons, he will be on the Sochi roster, as will Cam Ward.
