Now that it looks like ownership is on board with a rebuild, Weisbrod will get the credit if the picks pan out. It's looking like KK and Feaster have hitched their ride onto Weisbrod. Time will tell. My guess is that if the picks start to pan out in a couple of years that Weisbrod will be the next GM with the other 2 taking a promotion. If not, all will be looking for a new job ( maybe not KK).

I wanted whole sale changes after the season but that did not happen. It's time to enjoy the ride because i doubt ownerhip only gives these guys a year to prove themselves.

If that o Reilly thing happened, I don't think you can support this guy. He got really lucky, Colorado matched or else he wouldn't have a job.

I think it's time to finally leave that ROR thing behind. Yes, we dodged a major bullet, but it didn't happen and therefore, in my opinion, it's useless to still bring it up every other day.

Can't really argue with Feaster these days. Using 4th rounders on Knight and Galiardi was pretty smart and the draft looked good for most parts. Still possible that he sends a lot of fans back to hateville with a couple of bad UFA signings, but as of now, I think he has done a good job recently and the general CP atmosphere right now seems to mirror that sentiment (well, maybe except for the Kanzig pick).

There was a phantom goal in 2004?

I'm still steamed about the non-call in 1990.

Feaster was just helping the Avs get O'Reilly signed. Everybody knows that

I still think RoR will consider the flames next summer if he is not qualified at $6.5M. I do think the new regime in Colorado will smooth things over between him and the org. However will RoR want to play wing or be the 3rd line C in Colorado long term? I think the flames would be a front runner to add him next summer

So we should ignore the fact that Feaster almost gave up Monahan and a 3rd for ROR or that we almost lost our 6th for Matt REad and Coburn? The repeated attempts for a quick but costly retool should be worrying Personally I'll forgive him for now, but if he tries to deal our 1st rounder for tertiary players again, he needs to get fired

that's the key here - "almost", but it didn't happen. It's like saying a cow almost climbed a tree because it was looking at it curiously. But it didn't happen, so why recite this and be upset about this again and again?

Yeah you are just wrong here. That was a rumor that was never proven to be true. In his scrum after the draft he said they were offered players a year or 2 from UFA but they are doing the rebuild right and he is not looking for the quick fix.

I agree that someone else should be the GM of this team but the Read, Coburn, 11th for 6th was never confirmed and if it was offered it sounds like the flames declined

Well the ROR offer sheet was still during the "get in and anything can happen" mindset. Feaster had his orders and was trying his best to get in the playoffs, future be damned. Same goes for the Richards offer. He has done pretty decent since a full commit to a rebuild. The Philly deal has not been confirmed and was merely a rumor.

I like today's deal, but by no means should we just forget about the RoR fiasco. It could have been a major disaster that would have been avoided by a 5 minute phone call that no one felt they needed to make. Ownership should be able to learn from things like that too, it doesn't always take the disaster actually occurring to learn a lesson.

What I really like about the direction Feaster is taking the Flames is that we are very clearly moving past the whole Jarome, Kipper and friends type of way to build a team. Nothing against either players as I think they are both the best to ever play here...I just don't think you can really have 1 or 2 guys that the whole team is built around, you don't really end up with a team just a collection of contracts. So I'm liking Feaster, Ill like him even better in a few years when we see how all the new talent pans out.

Feaster is yet to give us results measured in NHL points and playoff appearances. All else is magic beans before that.

But I can live on magic beans for a while.

Feaster put the flames in an extremely vulnerable position that would have put the flames rebuild back 2-3 years, after he said for 2 years he didn't want to rebuild. Thus is would have set the franchise back 5 years.

So if a criminal broke into your house and robbed you, but was arrested and had to return your stuff, would you be ok with it? No. If you can't read the rulebook, or don't have advisors that can, you should be fired.

This is not nearly as bad as what Tallon did in Chicago only he wasn't so lucky.
