I would only be interested in a 3 year max contract with Vinnie. The rumored 5 years he wants is a suckers deal for the final 2 years.

Meh, nothing really lost. If the term was anymore than 3, we've made the right move in moving on.

Further to @aaronward_nhl report on Lecavalier, I have also been told by a Stars source, Lecavalier has eliminated Dallas from contention.

The fact the Panthers are in the final three leads me to believe that he wants to stay in Florida. What other reason would they be in his final three?

If he ends up in Boston, they have to move out salary.

I am grasping at straws if the Bruins sign Vinny they will have to ship out a big ticket like Seguin. Flames are here to take your contracts and give you a couple prospects

Not necessarily, moving one or two of Peverley and Kelly would clear plenty of space. The Bruins also have Savard's contract that they can move to LTIR if necessary. Krug's cap hit is 1.7, I could see that forcing him to the minors and Bartkowski (.650 cap hit) taking his spot, or McQuaid dealt and replaced by someone cheaper. The Bruins will have to be a bit creative, but they're not going to be forced to make a dumb hockey move just for cap space.

Hearing Lecavalier could decide which #NHL he'll sign with as early as tonite. Told #Canadiens were in the final running but are now out.

interesting that he won't sign with the Habs, I fully expected him to go there. No idea where he'll sign now ...

Even with Savard on LTIR, the key will be how much Rask signs for. Assuming Rask averages out at $6M (which could be high, I don't know), and filling out the roster (back-up goalie, 13th forward), for every new dollar that Vinnie signs for they'll have to remove an existing dollar (give or take about $750k).
Long story short, I doubt Vinnie ends up in Boston.

He likes the Florida tax rate, I am guessing. Between Boston and Florida then? No way he was ever playinng in MTL.
